@MrMoni743 жыл бұрын
The jaguar pickup is from a jaguar special. It is in the bridge position.

what amp did you use ?
@MrMoni743 жыл бұрын
At the time I used an old solid state crate amp. Right now I am using a Mesa boogie tremoverb.

Hey man! (awesome.that it fit the funky charvel body, matches your EJ chops!) Its sweet builds like yours right here and several other videos/research that made me finally pull the trigger on my own however I'm a little stuck on the neck/net width... : *Burning question* say you can ONLY choose a standard thin neck option not a large neck, boatneck or 59 profile etc, just the closest thing to what you think is a C shape neck. - now what would be your *GO TO* *nut width* to compliment it ? Should I go with *1- 11/16ths (43mm)* as a safe starting point? That's what is considered standard nut width I believe and it matches up with most of my favourite guitars and probably those of other players really because.. . *I know for SURE i cant go much lower in terms of nut width especially the vintage fender size *41mm* will probably too tiny feeling! Im 6"1 and on necks like that in the past with my moderate sized hands (yet smaller pinky finger lol) *the high e string slips off the fretboard when playing fast/soloing* maybe you've experienced the same kind of tendencies on a thin nut yourself? . And Important note is I'm *NOT going with a floyd rose, instead a gotoh 510 bridge* SO basically I'm stumped there and not sure what nut width to settle for. Even on the opposite end of this, going *TOO large width wise* so higher than *43mm* will likely feel way too wide I don't want playing between strings to feel like a massive "leap" either . Anyways, with all that in mind my guess is it's safe to lean towards a *standard thin shape neck + 1 11/16 nut* it sounds like the safest recipe so far and for that area I'm really OK with "vanilla"/safe nut width and neck combo since if that one aspect is off, we can surely both agree that it can drastically compromise the feel of a good neck! . Anyways I'm very interested to hear if you agree or what your advice would be for a newbie first time builder like myself. I cant tell over video but something tells me we might have similar size hands! . Apologies for the novel amd I hope to hear back from ya whenever you get the chance! Cheers from Niagara falls Canada and please stay safe and healthy during this time🙏🤟😊 - Adam

I saw that body in a pawn shop with another neck. It had an all parts strat replacement neck. I had this warmoth neck on another strat and never liked the way it felt with that guitar. I knew it would look so cool with the Charvel body because of the ufo inlays and I love the compound radius neck. In a very unscientific way I switched necks and loved the way it came out. I am no luthier, but I know what feels right for my guitars. I have tried several different things. I love a strat with a decent size neck and a flat radius. All that said, I think you would do well with 1- 11/16ths (43mm) as a starting point. Try it if your comfortable and let me know how it goes. Hope you are staying safe and healthy too. Thank you!

@@MrMoni74 wow thanks for such a timely and helpful reply I really cant thank you enough man!! The bulk of my research and info that helped with the connection between *neck shapes & nut width* was from finding out first hand from as many people I could that have already started or finished their builds (like yourself) , stewmac and of course Aaron from Warmoth on their youtube channel in all his videos that he posts. . What you've said above^ is a big help going forward!! Without a doubt their is an *irrefutable link between those two* If I mess up the nut for my standard thin neck profile then it will take a long time to correct it by a pro/luthier because none are open here due to the lockdown right now! So I'm trying to order once/ aka "buy nice" so I don't have to twice! 👎 . . *1 11/16ths* (in canada most really just say 43mm anyway) seems like a safe bet and I'm just about convinced that something that size has wayyy less a chance for me to pull the E strings off the fretboard when playing fast like it has on too many guitars out their new in store or used that use something like 41mm ? Aka most of what *fender* has out there.. . I'm gonna go right out and say it to anyone else reading this that you could find the nicest suhr or ernie ball family reserve models etc for a steal at times on reverb, kijiji (canadian craigslist's) but in the end It will be a waste of money or gas driving to try that guitar by an amazing brand IF the nut width / string spacing is too narrow or too far apart! So after all the digging, watching videos like this and hearing first hand I'd much rather go custom order through warmoth for exactly what I want how I want then spend anymore time trying other brands guitars! I agree with you it's all in the process and understanding the ins and outs of these specs will only make the build, and future builds easier and faster once you can figure out *exactly* what fits the bill. . . It really is insane to think about how you can have everything dialed in about a guitar/ or build, yet if one area such as the nut is off, by mere fractions of a mm, your hands immediately recognize what doesn't "feel" right ! Lol I'll be pulling the trigger on it as soon as possible and thanks again for the helpful advice man I'll keep a look out for your future videos/progress on builds and what not! Cheers all the best 🙏🙏🙏🤟 - Adam

I don't understand how someone with your chops and musicality is on youtube with C-grade gear and cheap mods? Any chance you could borrow a friends US made PRS or Les Paul or Tele and put up some entire songs?
@MrMoni746 жыл бұрын
Thats a good point. I do have some nicer gear as well. I have a nice strat with a custom warmoth neck and a mesa boogie tremoverb along with some pretty good pedals. I used to have an American Deluxe Strat and an American Tele. I usually practice and gig with the cheaper stuff. I appreciate your comment. I'll try to post something with some nice gear. I have some full length original songs without video. I'll upload something. Thank you
