Keep up the great videos. And hope you still love the bike. Had mine ovwr 3 years and like it even more now...especially as the engine gets better the more it wears in. Had some really good 2 up tours round Wales as well.

I agree with your positive pillion assessment. My passenger is very happy with it. For even more comfort, I add a gel pad for her on long trips. I purchased the Guzzi comfort seat and find it is more comfortable for long distance riding. Btw, the top speed for my 2023 V85TT (stock) on a flat road with a slight headwind is 105 mph (true gps speed). It is nice to know that cruising at 75 mph does not tax the engine.
@edmoto42324 ай бұрын
So far things seem good with the standard seat, but that's a useful tip ref the gel pad. I'd go with your assessment of top speed / cruising too - that matches my experience.

2023 Guardia. Love mine too. 8300 miles in 6-months. Never been back to the dealership for any issues. This could be my “forever “ bike.

That's what I'm hoping too! First service since purchase is looming already, which I'm planning on doing myself. One of the attractions of the bike is the simplicity of maintenance.

If there is no dealer, is it possible to service it yourself? I really like GUZZI, a piece product is not for everyone.

I bought my Guardia because of the colour scheme, I never test rode it before. Riding home from the dealership was a lovely experience. Only problems I have found, 1. The horn is pitiful, 2. The light switch has a gap for water to enter when switched fully forward and 3. The cruise control light flashing just below the left turn repeater. It can make you think the indicator is on.

In terms of refined responsive reliable performance and handling the 500F was the best bike I've ever owned. My knees however would no longer tolerate chain drive bikes hence the Guzzi. I was sad about the Honda until I experienced Guzzi handling stability and seat comfort. WOW! While still great, the Guzzi is less of a twistie road weapon but way more fun for the open road. It's a different kind of fun.

@edmoto42325 ай бұрын
I wouldn't go so far as to say they're boring - it's a reliable, competent machine that punches a bit above it's weight.
@davidphillips72555 ай бұрын
Like many stock bikes that are fundamentally excellent I found my 500F needed to be tweaked to show its true potential. EBC HH pads on the front, sticky sport touring Bridgestones running 34 in the front and 38 in the rear (-2F and -4 rear.) and the front softened from third ring on the front fork adjustment to second. These changes may sound small ; but the difference on the local Gold River road (mountain twisties) was stunning. It changed from a seemingly humble commuter to a back road weapon. Not boring at all.

You can change modes as you ride. Just don't have any throttle input. And toggle the modes with the mode switch (starter button) on the right.

The green light is either the cruise control (if it's the green light on the left) or the day running light indicator (if it's the green light on the right). The gearbox isn't Japanese slick, but not as agricultural as some bikes I've had. Positive input is definitely required! 😂
@MothershipVideos5 ай бұрын
What was that green light showing on the dash when you were making your way to the dealers. Also, just out of interest, is you gearbox clunky or as some would say "agricultural"?

@edmoto4232 Glad to hear that. Currently the 500x is my first 'big' bike (2 or 3 years now), and I want something more suitable for pillon (be nice to see a pillons point of view?) and also motorbike camping touring (sick of chain maintenance).

Ed - curious as to what you think of the wind protection. I picked up a V85 a couple of weeks ago. Love the bike, but mine has the tiny windscreen which is of no real use. I was thinking of getting the larger screen like you have. Nice video!
@edmoto42325 ай бұрын
@@tommerson5121 The biggest issue I had was with turbulence behind the screen which I've fixed with some deflectors that fit in the scallops at the front of the fuel tank - virtually eliminated it altogether.

What a good choice. This bike is just different and put a smile on my face everytime I ride it. It is not perfect as 2023 version has a poor wind protection but nothing you couldn’t tackle properly with spare part. congrats for this purchase. Worths it
@tommerson51216 ай бұрын
Nice video. I just picked one of these up last week. Mine has the shorter windscreen. What’s your impression of your windscreen’s protection? Thanks.
@edmoto42326 ай бұрын
Hi Tom - the screen provides plenty of protection, even in the raked back / lower position, which I've found best for turbulence. I've 3D printed some inserts to go in the scallops at the front of the fuel tank to see if they reduce it even more. There will prob be a video on that in the near future.

I purchased a V7 stone in September last year rode it back home in hail storm 😵💫not a great first ride! but I have added 3000 miles on it since then, might I suggest joining the Moto Guzzi Club GB only £20 + £5 joining fee local branch meetings throughout the country a good mag + advice. Also it's been a good few years since I travel up & down the A303 with 44t fertilizer tanker lorries on my way to Devon & Cornwall farms, I don't miss the cars drivers trying to film StoneHenge on my side of the road though!!

I had a test ride on one, I loved it, real proper motorcycle, alive, mechanical magic! Had my heart set on the Mandelllo which is a great bike, the V85 is more comfortable, I have heard the Mandello service charges are just eyewatering at 15k miles. The V85 is a little underpowered but has enough for real world riding, I was surprised how much I liked it. So it's between the two now and do I wait for the new 24 V85?? One way or another it's a Guzzi for me and I would happily own either bike. Congrats on the new bike 👍

Congratulations on your decision, you won't regret it. 👍🏻👍🏻 I rode it as soon as it was launched in 2019 and was very impressed and excited. I just had concerns about its reliability. I had and still have a Kawasaki Versys 650 with almost 140,000 km on the clock without any problems. I then test drove several other motorcycles from 2019 - 2023 (Honda, KTM, Triumph) and after every test drive I only had the Guzzi in my head. 😂😂 last year in October, after a test drive with the Honda Transalp 750 😎😎 I bought the V85TT. 🥰🥰 also says a lot about the Honda...😎😎 I then drove almost 5000 km in Tuscany and Sardinia in 4 weeks. Every kilometer was pure fun. No other manufacturer has the charm and character of the Guzzi. No one who has never ridden one can understand that. 😉😉 best wishes from Bavaria and have fun with it...
