Hi love your videos, we’re did you get the cardboard?
@Thesecretgardenhomestead12 күн бұрын
Thank you! We bought the cardboard rolls off of Amazon. Sandbaggy Biodegradable Landscape... www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZQTL6HW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Our original plan was to save cardboard boxes but we had 6000 square feet to cover, so we felt like this was the best option!

I will say this cudos for processing your own birds. We do this on the easy here inTexas.. you need a larger process for Turkeys. Bigger pots and plucked. We process in like 10 seconds for feathers. Go bigger and you will be really happy.

Thanks for the tips! Yeah, we thought we went big! But soon realized it wasn't big enough!

That was so cool!! Congratulations and awesome job on processing your beautiful birds! Every turkey I have seen is black though, I’m curious about your white turkeys. What are they called?
@Thesecretgardenhomestead29 күн бұрын
These are called White Broad Breasted Turkeys. The Black ones are the Bronze Broad Breasted turkeys and i believe those ones get a tad larger!

So glad I found you! We are a homeschooling family living in Vancouver, BC, which is a very hard place to raise children. So many friends left for more conservative areas during C too. But the Lord is hedging us in and I’m seeing fruit in my children’s lives ❤️

Us mama's have to stick together 🤎! I am praying you and your family are able to make lasting, christian family, connections right where God has rooted you!

Thank you for sharing. My family lives near Los Angeles, and we are a Christian homeschooling family called to the entertainment industry. It’s a weird dichotomy for most people who don’t understand why God called us to this state and to that industry, but I’m going to trust The Lord and obey Him because that’s truly the only place of safety and provision. I’m glad you’re trusting in Him as well. Your family is so blessed because of your obedience. 🙌🏽

I absolutely love this! This is so true! I can't explain why we feel so strongly called to stay in the Bay, but we know it's God's call for us! Praying he can use us for HIS glory! It is so cool that you are down in LA, i imagine it is not easy, but what an amazing call!
@KytiaLamourАй бұрын
Yes! Similar to the Bay Area, it’s got its ups and downs, but we’re definitely called here and it’s honestly such a blessing to live in such a beautiful state.

We've done PSA in California as well... What do you think about the idea of the tax credit for homeschoolers that is being discussed?
@ThesecretgardenhomesteadАй бұрын
To be honest, i have not paid super close attention. We do support the HSLDA who are working hard for us homeschool mamas!
@jessicaskankey1964Ай бұрын
We are in AZ using the ESA program and I understand that the HSLDA does not support the government having any hand in homeschooling. They probably won't represent someone if they are using the tax money since it isn't pure homeschooling (which is completely separate from any government involvement).u@@Thesecretgardenhomestead

Nice homestead! What avocados varieties and where did you procure them ? I have a large grove in hills above San Jose. I am in sunset zone 16 - NorCal coastal thermal belt. The trees thrive here. Your location is VERY important for avocados as they are VERY finicky trees. Totally worth growing just be ready for a lot of work taking care of them - after 2-3 years they really toughen up if they can handle your microclimate and soil

We bought ours at our local nursery! They are Fuerta, Hass and Lamb Hass varieties. We are over in the Clayton area.
@SVmathfarmerАй бұрын
@ thanks for update those are great varieties. My 2 cents if you want year round supply Is to also plant Reed and Carmen. Carmen has 2 distinct blooms and is known as the “everbearing” Hass bc it looks and tastes like Hass. Reed is a large green cannonball that is a summer variety like Lamb that complements Lamb in the summer. I have excellent results with all the varieties. Good luck farming !

Thank you so much! I was wondering about what varities i would need to have year-round avacados!

You may struggle with those mangoes based on the rootstock they are grafted onto. Don't take this as gospel but I would assume they are on turpentine rootstock which does not do well here (im in the bay as well). Mangoes can absolutely be done though. Ive got mangoes, longons, guavas, white sapotes, all sorts of tropicals and subtropicals unprotected in the east bay hills doing great.

Awesome, I think your Orchard is great!! Good job and I hope all goes well with the plan. I would take a look at paw paw trees as well. I am so excited I bought 3 of them and have never even tasted the fruit. But it sounds so delicious. They have a short shelf life and only harvest for 2 months, so only way to get them is to grow. Good luck!!

Do you have any tips to help them get through the winter, or have yours just bounced back?
@siddhu38Ай бұрын
Always happy to watch homestead orchard tour Here are some tips for growing mangoes 1. Get a seedling variety, they get acclimated for our dry weather, turpentine root stock grafts don’t do well in California, that’s for Florida. 2. Make sure it’s well drained soil 3. Put a shade cloth/tarp to avoid frost in winter 4. Make sure it gets plenty of sun, may be a south wall spot. 5. Give minimal amount of fertilizer in spring. I am in zone 9b, I have 15 mango trees near Santa Barbara.

Thanks for the video. I am installing this very one on our Texas country home. We have well water. I will be mounting this to the cabinet next to the sink cabinet where I am opening up access for some cookware storage and this. Our under sink is filled with either pull out trash on one side and disposal and dish washer to the other side. I may just put up plywood to mount this to or make a vertical drawer to slide out the filters. Lots of ideas. We will also use this for our coffee maker and refrigerator ice & water. Thanks again. All the best from north Texas.
