Wasn’t a fan of the last sentence. Felt the end was rushed. And oh wait, are Atlas and Marshall good friends now?

Ironic Ellen mentioned in the book yet Ellen real life involved cycle of abuse to her employees.

Interesting the recap is given by a teenager. This book/movie/storyline is definitely not a young adult book.

Hi, I’m in my mid twenties. 😊 I do agree it’s not the most appropriate book for teenagers, but can be very eye opening for people in their twenties and later.

I actually couldn't make it past the third chapter. I felt that the author of the book, Colleen Hoover, was writing on an eighth grade level. With today's indoctrination system, it makes sense that most people would appreciate a story like this. Where is Lily's accountability in the rush of the marriage?! She married. And slept with a man she barely knew. This story. Is actually very horrible and dangerous for young girl readers.

My wife and I both went through abuse as kids and watched our parents abuse each other. We were eventually addicted to drugs and it was hell. Surviving that brought us together but one thing we had decided was that we would never have kids. Neither wanted them and my wife has a phobia of being pregnant. Like body horror type fear. I wanted to be a father when I was younger. But I know it is not for me. I can be a husband. I have pets. We deal with our problems in healthy ways these days. We're both happy. But I totally get that decision to end the cycle. I just do not get why she keeps the baby!! Was there some infertility thing that I was unaware of or what? Why not try again later with someone she would actually want to have around? Maybe I should watch the movie. lol not gonna read the book. Can't do abuse stuff. A movie length I can do but not a book.

hi shannon! i’m a new viewer of your channel, and i really like your videos! i recently read american mermaid, and i loved it. as a wheelchair user, i really resonated with the narrative. i do want to point out that terms like ‘handicapped’ aren’t really thought of fondly within most disabled spaces. of course, everyone is different, and some people might not mind the language, but it’s been used for discriminatory purposes in the past. i realize that the broader public might not know the history of the term, and you obviously didn’t mean any harm in saying it. again, i love your channel, and i’m glad you spoke about a book that includes representation of disability!❤️

Out of curiosity, how did you pack? I’m going on this same trip soon, and I was planning on bringing a duffle as my carry on, and checking in a suitcase. Do you think that will be okay? Did anyone check in any luggage on your trip?
@ShannonHGrace Жыл бұрын
I checked a medium size suit case and brought a backpack! During the trip, I had the backpack with me on all road trips/travel days and then stored the suit case under the bus. Most people checked a suitcase for this trip. I recommend not bringing more one though, so that you always have a free hand when walking :) compressible packing cubes were a huge help for me! amzn.to/3SeHyDr
