Where did you hear these are only for rifled barrels? A friend of mine in Italy buys these by the case and shoots them at 150 meters out of a smooth bore - I can't remember his grouping sizes but I think it was close to what you were getting at 80 yards.

@theshotgunscientists

Cheddite every gauge. Fiocchis are generally cheaper but are very inconsistent with the skivving, a little harder to crimp, and they have euro sized primers making them have an extra step in the reloading process if you don’t have proper primers. Rio hulls are very good too but again the primer is larger.

Love y'all channel, I'm new to this but got a question, wouldn't steel shot keep allot better group at 30 -50 yards. Just curious
@theshotgunscientists
@theshotgunscientists 3 күн бұрын
No, steel shot can’t be fired in tight chokes. It’s far less dense than lead aswell which means it’ll lose energy far faster than lead. It also tends to naturally spread more because of the more rapid loss in velocity and low density compared to lead. TSS shot on the other hand is far more dense than lead and still holds tight patterns at long ranges with more open chokes. TSS will carry much more energy than lead much further. A #9 TSS pellet is nearly ballistically equivalent to a #4 lead pellet. Steel shot by comparison is terrible, but still plenty good enough to drop large birds and small game like rabbits or squirrels.
