Hi Mike, here in Western Australia many years ago there was a story in the paper. Some folks had a big fire and lost everything and no insurance. So dad called up and offered a new large fridge for no cost. Anyway they rolled up in their big American style mobile home. Dad let them have the fridge but has never given anything to folks again to help. I only help close family, kids and their kids.

Thanks for this video. I saw some very much like these, costing $8 for sale at Aldi, and was trying to decide if they're worth buying. Considering how well they work and the fact that they're about half the price of the ones you bought, I'd say they are.

Hi Mike, I've come somewhat late to the party. I'm truly sorry for your loss. The gift of the blanket was a lovely gesture from your friend. Around the time this video came out, we N Scalers also lost Roy Smith. He was someone I counted as a friend even though I am in England and he was in Panama. Sometimes we have to take a step back Mike, for personal reasons. We can't always be going through life at 100 miles per hour and not expect to get burned out. You hang in there Buddy. I hope since you made this video you are feeling somewhat better, and I hope your desert temperatures are starting to become more a manageable Autumn climate. Andy

I'm using the Peco N scale turntable with the Locomotech motor connected to a decoder. It operates very smoothly but the problem is, it's hard to line up the tracks spot on as the decoder will slightly over run the exact spot where you need to stop. I would much prefer a setup like this using the turntable's own controller, rather than using my Digitrax controller. Thanks for your video.

Mike I had a similar situation where I had to change out a turnout with ballasted track at each end. I did not want to disturb the ballasted track and I had little room to lift the adjoining track. My solution was to cut our the offending turnout and then install the new turnout and take thin strips of brass and solder these on the outside of each rail. I made sure the track was absolutely aligned both horizontally and vertically before soldiering on the strips. This worked fine and I never had a problem with mis-aligned track or derailment. This method was used in-lieu of trying to slip on track connectors. Almost the same as connectors bars used in 1:1 railroad track.

Thanks Pete , I have used some stiff copper wire before as well. That is what I should have done here as well as a new solder tip and my thin solder and resin flux. Thanks , Mike

great looking Halloween car ! lots of fun ! you got that new switch in place and it seems to work fine. But don't ballast the working parts of it. Or just add a very small amount of gravel to cover the ground. That way you will have less problems with them. thanks for the video !

Hi Mike, I find that your video for ballasting your track very straightforward and easy to follow. However, I see unlike other experts you don’t apply white glue to side of the Kato track base before you start the ballast process! So I’m wondering is there a reason for this? Thank Brian
