How hard was it to get the permit?
@anthonyjaynes85382 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t extremely hard. It took us about a week to get it. We would have our form filled out online and submitted it right at midnight, 6 months before the start day of our trip. We initially planned on bringing a 5th person but we managed to get a permit for 4.

How about a ski lift or a helocopter to the top. Oh wait that's the smart way to the top. But this is not Europe where they have more brains and money then the parks in the USA.
@krishaalmazan87902 жыл бұрын
*HELICOPTER *THAN the parks in the USA. (I know Europe has autocorrect on SMARTphones) 😉 Your comment isn’t very “smart.” This is obviously a HIKE. Hiking requires walking. I can’t believe I have to explain this to a “smart” person. Have a lovely day.

@anthonyjaynes85383 жыл бұрын
Lots! Many of the museums and exhibits were closed, permits and reservations were required for entry into the park, the trail to half dome and two different routes for going up and down to help with social distancing. Also we went during the middle of the pandemic…

Hands down best vid ever on how to ascent Halfdome and make it fun!!! Your guys are all awesome!!! Your gear selections from tent to gloves were spot on! 2 Q's 1. How did you decide on gear e.g. Jet Boil? 2. How did you go about planning your itin e.g. camp, 3:30am ascent? 3. What is your experience with backpacking it seems like you could teach Outward Bound?
@anthonyjaynes85383 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! To answer your questions: 1. We’ve been backpacking for years and these are the items we really enjoyed using (or bought for a good price lol). Jetboils are great for dehydrated meals. They boil water crazy fast. As far as sleeping bags and pads, we just bought them at rei garage sales or Craigslist. 2. We knew in advance that we would want to do the hike in 2 days because it’s a lot of mileage and elevation gain for one day. Little Yosemite Valley fit our route best since we parked at happy isles. We also chose to leave LYV at 3:30 to get to the top by sunrise and (more importantly) beat the crowds on the cables. 3. I’ve been hiking for many years mostly with the BSA as a kid and with friends and family currently. I’ve never heard of outward bound but I’ll definitely look into it!

@@anthonyjaynes8538 Thank you so much for the detailed responses! You bring out the best in the venue/site by making it look easy and fun because of your experience. One message I get is "look how amazing nature is and here is how you too can enjoy the journey and avoid these pitfalls e.g. water, exhaustion." I went to your channel and cant wait to watch more of your videos. I subscribed and turned on the notification bell! Thank you so much!

There were actually many more rules throughout the park, limited capacity, we had to take a different trail down to reduce foot traffic per the parks guidelines. Some indoor exhibits were closed or had limited capacity. Overall still a great experience though!
