What an embarrassment to the people of Ashland, KY. Our once proud city has been turned over to a leadership that seems to thrive on ineptness on all levels. Please take this video down and have it professionally done. A good reference point might be to view the video submitted by Ironton, OH for the same project. Do you really want the nation and the world to see Ashland like this? It also wouldn't hurt to have some integrity if not for yourselves (which is obvious), but to the forefathers that built our once great town. I find it hard to believe that Mayor Gilmore and Commissioners Steen, Gute and Perkins would approve such unprofessionalism.

It was ok, I didn’t get the humor and you should check out Seymour, Indiana video. It really is one of the best.

That’s really interesting. I live in Ashland now, and I used to live in Seymour. I haven’t seen the Seymour video yet. I can’t wait to watch it.

I grew up here, moving to go to college a couple of years ago-- This video is fairly disappointing, instead of focusing on probably the most important areas that need a "makeover", you just focused on your humor that probably no one is going to get. Humor is not going to let the producers of HGTV to choose you, humor makes it just sound fairly unprofessional.

We absolutely love the passion, commitment and fun y'all had putting this video together. It's unfathomable to us that people would hate on volunteers who love their city enough to spend countless, selfless hours creating an opportunity for growth. We are so proud of you guys! We love the video and can't wait to visit Ashland. PS. Myrna, you rock!

I was so hopeful for this video.. we really could use the facelift.. I appreciate all the hard work that put into this and thank you for actually putting forth the effort. IMO the video misses the mark big time.. I’m not sure if it was the mytowntv staff that was more worried about their publicity as opposed to the town or what. I didn’t learn anything about the town, and the outtakes weren’t funny at all. I hope we do get it, and they might see the humor in it, but if not... Ironton’s video was phenomenal and I hope they get it if we don’t.

Nope. Nice try but I don't think you nailed it. This seemed very unprofessional, uncoordinated, and unplanned. You should have taken a drone or something to actually show the town and not just a corner or two. The "outtakes" were a terrible idea. I wanted to love the video. It just didn't happen. The conference room clips should be cut all together.

Sooo disappointed in this! Y'all had good intentions, I'm sure, but this is totally off the mark. It seems as though you're more worried about showing yourselves instead of the town!

Yall really wanna make Ashland a better place? Get the heroin and meth out of there. Its my home town where i grew up and its sad that i try to avoid going back there as much as possible because of all the drugs. That town went to shit and wont be better until the drugs are gone
@loisrebeccabeck4564 Жыл бұрын
The drugs will never be gone until those on it truly get the help they need. They can be helped and their is hope it’s just called they need family and friends believing in them and truly helping them.

Great & fun to watch. But you need more history. Paramount Studios only commissioned 12 movie houses in the U.S. Only 6 were built, only 2 still work and ours is only one is still used for the arts. Until 1803 this whole area was part of VA, not Ky. Eleanor Roosevelt gave a brief speech on the steps of the old post office on 17th St. A large part of South Ashland used to be Unity, Ky. That's where the church got it's name. The McGuffy log school was the first school to have text books. Pollard was a city that started at Lexington Ave. & people living there got their water from a well where Gibbs Hardware is now and by the Catholic cemetary. Blazer brought the phone in Hitler's bunk back. It's in the museum now. He was among the first to go there after Germany surrendered in WW 2. That's just the tip of all the history here. I've researched ancestry for people all over the U.S. right here in our public library. This has long been Ky.'s best kept secret.

I , personally, believe this off the mark. There HGTV series Home Town is about building neighborhoods, not downtown areas. Instead of showing the business areas, show Bath, Montgomery , Central and Carter Avenue areas that are in need of repair. Or the areas of South Ashland where the "tree streets" are, like Oak, Maple. Walnut and across 29th Street near the cemetery is. There's are historic neighborhoods with great potential of their own. Many of the homes in these areas are over 100 years old. I agree that the downtown needs.to be developed but those are commmercial properties. Home Town should be about where we live, not where we work or play. Many of the structures downtown are already being refurbished by people with the funding to take care of those big projects. The neighborhoods not have that kind of funding. While I applaud the efforts of those involved in the video (we have some VERY talented people in this city) I'm just think they missed the point of what HGTV is trying to accomplish. Give it another try with the same effort out into this video and the Delta Marriot will be full of camera.crews who will be spending the TV show's money where it is most needed.

Thanks for doing your part for this community! Many of the faces I see are the same faces I see regularly promoting a positive future for this community, not only in word but in everyday action. Im hopeful and excited for the future of Ashland, great things are ahead. There will soon be a rise of entertainment and art that will pick up the pieces of this community and take us all to new places and new opportunity. All while there will always be James Coleman's that will remain in the past with bitterness and jealousy and nothing good to say or contribute.
