I had a few stainless steel Telford cylinders leaking from new, cousing quite a substantial damage to the property 🤬. It failed on seam weld on one, and the other one leaked through immersion. I claimed for damages, and after a long battle, they agreed to compensate. However, I no longer trust them to use their products. Their's so-called quality check stamp means absolutely nothing. I hope you didn't end up using your insurance as this often leads to another nightmare of premiums skyrocketing or even refusal.

Did you consider smaller pipe spacing to allow for lowest flow temp possible for the HP? Looks like those panels might go as low as 50mm.
@griffithsheating
@griffithsheating 2 ай бұрын
There were a few serious install issues on this job created by the original installers that would make a super low flow temp a bad thing. They fitted a GSHP with a fixed speed compressor just to ‘get the job done’ (grant money banked) when they should have fitted an inverter driven unit as specified. And they massively undersized the buffer. The hp was cycling bad enough already and having persistent high pressure faults, trying to run it at <45 degrees with the available system volume would make it worse. All my advice fell on deaf ears though and now I’m probably the bad guy 🤷

We’ve done a similar split upstairs / downstairs cascade with a pair Viessmann vitocals. You will have better low modulation performance and ultimate control in this configuration in my opinion. Not sure you could open loop a true cascade as it would probably need a buffer I would have thought. There is nothing wrong with a buffer, not everyone is interested in chasing the last few percentage of performance. Its a central heating system not formula 1 car

Thank you for posting this and glad I found this video as it answers a lot of questions for our house refurbishment. This system is exactly what we are looking to fit. Weather controlled 200-W combi with ground underfloor heating and radiators on the first and second floors with no complicated internal controls and zone valves all over the place, I just want to keep it simple. Unfortunately, as I'm in Oxfordshire you are a long way from us so I can't ask you to fit it. Can I ask some questions so I can have an informed conversation with whoever does please. > The EM-M1 controller in the video has 6 cables to it. 1. 240v from the boiler on 40 2. UFH Pump on P1/20 3. UFH ESBE Mixer on P3/52 4. UFH Flow Temp Sensor on TS1/2 5. Boiler Data Link on 74 6. ?? - I can't see it, but is this cable another flow temperature sensor fitted to the unmixed radiator circuit on TS3/9 as there is hydraulic separation with the CCT? > The two Stuart Turner pumps - What settings were used for these? Different for the UFH and radiators? > Is the radiator circulation pump is connected to terminal P1 in the boiler as there is no hot water cylinder pump? > As an independent backup to prevent damage to the floor on the UFH would you fit a low limit pipe thermostat (set to around 40 degrees) between the mixer valve and flow temperature sensor to cutoff the pump? > Considering fitting Salus automatic balancing actuators to the UFH manifold - comments? Thank you for any feedback.

One of the few videos which shows how it’s done properly. Really good video. What I can’t get my head around is how to size the pump for the rads after the cct. Will it not interfere with the boiler’s own pump modulation unless you use the same pump which is in the boiler?
@griffithsheating
@griffithsheating 5 ай бұрын
Cheets mate 😎 just size the 2nd pump to suit your index circuit. The hydronic gods will take care of all the other stuff. The worst that happens is that you get a bit of distortion. I.e. the boiler is running at 55 degrees but your flow temperature out of the secondary circuit is 50 degrees as it's pulling in return water through the CCT and lowering the flow temp.
@UndisputableFact

@@griffithsheating hello mate, just got round to doing this on my system. I was wondering where you would wire the additional pump for the rads after fitting the cct. if I wire it to come on when the zone valve for the rads opens, then it'll run when just the UFH is calling for heat, since they share the same switched live to the boiler. but if I wire to the switched live from the thermostat to the rads, it'll come on before the rads zone valve has opened. I've got a bypass radiator to dissipate heat though so I could have the pump before the branch to this and the zone valve controlled rad circuit. what do you think? sorry for bending your ear on this, do you think I should use a relay?

yeah there are some rules of thumb. The close coupled tees must not be more than 4 x the diameter of the pipe apart. Flow out of the cct to the system should be atleast 4 x the pipe diameter before the first bend and the return into the cct is 8 x diameter before first bend. Only important one really on a small domestic system is 4 x diameter between the ccts.

This one was piped CCTs off a primary loop so if you had 3 circuits without mixers the 3rd circuit would be cooler than the first.
