Heard you on the Today programme this morning and it captured my interest. After a career in IT I left and ended up in an organisation where I was handed the task of setting up a direct debit system to collect fees. It seemed like the direct debit system was created in the old batch processing era where files were submitted and processed overnight but a new online front end was tacked on. It was miserable. When someone needed a new password the BACS website was dreadful and no help; I had to phone them and it was apparent that the person on the end had the sole job of doing password resets. I've been retired a few years now but I hope that people trying to manage the direct debit system have something better to work with in future. Replace direct debit with a 21st century system.

what is the plan to prevent wide scale attacks on the cloud infrastructure? Sounds like all the banks would essentially run on the same technology.

Enjoying these conversations! Going out on a limb here as digital clearly has gigantic first order efficiencies... But do you see any value in the second order benefits of cash compared to digital proxies? I'm thinking immutable properties as a result of concrete materiality: real anonymity, token ownership, no technological reliance for functionality, and say the intuitive physical geography of accounting.

The configurable Vault/Instance concept is fascinating. And not just for banking.
