That Rayovac should have been the pace car. Ai least you got some clear track, superfine. WT stop and go, guess you scared the 3rd Mk 3 ?

The way you warm up that 560 sleeveless hunk of Aluminium is just right, ain't it. Fine driver and finer steward of your friend, black cars matter. Thank you for the yellow flag behaviour and that ball dropping speed. I can show my friends what you do with a knowledgeable pride. Grace owns you with a ferocity, Vintage is the best. That intake / straight cut gear whine really is music, enjoy my friend. Thanks.

I remember someone saying years ago the rules for CAN/AM were written on a bar napkin. Must haves: enclosed bodywork, steering wheel, brakes, rollbar, four wheels, two seats with seat belts, fire extinguisher, mirrors. And that was about it. I can't imagine doing 230 + MPH in the Porsche 917/30.

Wow..... cool...... why make a video of going on a Sunday drive? It's almost frustrating watching such a capable car lollygag around. Especially on a track. Grow some nuts, hammer down, record that!
@chickencaronline6362 Жыл бұрын
that was only familiarity lap and warm the tyres.. . Sadly the interference from the ignition can shut the camera down or destroy the recording . This was only using a crappy gopro camera . GOP0002 that I have loaded is faster. I think Roger has 2nd fastest time for Canam at Road America. So I think he has big nuts.

As with most racing videos, it's impossible to really convey how fast race cars really are. I attended two Can Am races at Road Atlanta in the early 1970s. The cars were driven by some of the best drivers in the world at that time (such as Denny Hulme, Peter Revson, Vic Elford & Jackie Stewart). The cars were incredibly fast while sometimes running inches apart. The acceleration was incredible and of course, the sound was something I've never forgotten. The Can Am cars that are still around are indeed fast, but I imagine they're not running at top speed since they're so valuable and expensive to purchase and maintain.

OK impressive and these are obviously a big handful to drive but my stock engined (7 litre, 505hp, 640NM, dry sump, carbon ceramic brakes) 2014 Z28 Camaro runs a 1:13.20 driven by a pro driver there and you're doing 1:08.30's with 700+ hp and full race car... why the hell is my stock Camaro only 5 seconds slower than a 700-800hp Tranzam ? They seem poor on the corners, I guess cause they just have too much power ...
@chickencaronline6362 Жыл бұрын
Class restriction means they are small-block 6litre , carb.etc , regular brakes, not 800hp .

Sorry I missed seeing your question .. After lots of rebuilds etc, the Alfetta is now being used more. You can search online to perhaps find a few videos. It was built by the Algie brothers and is currently owned by Gordon (racer) Burr and usually driven by Angus Fogg. www.theroaringseason.com/showthread.php?2485-Article-The-Ian-Algie-Alfetta
