I hear youtube is now pushing out smaller chanels, new algorithim or something, here's hoping it works out for your amazing channel! I will always watch. Discovery of Witches is one of those books that just become popular for some unfathomable reason. The new interest because of the TV show made me reread it and while I did enjoy the romance, the actual book and story was a slog to read through..

Looking at how many of these authors no longer write and some write but not the same way they used to (thanks societal pressures) , it's sad to think the golden age of romance books is sort of over...In 20 years, that's what they will call the 90's, 2000's and early to mid 2010's.

I said it before, I'll say it again, i would legit pik up the real people, nakey chest covers without a second thought. You know what to expect, which is a good time... It's the current trend of illustrated , no face covers that give me the heebie jeebies...

The Blue Adept Series was pretty good, but I much preferred Piers Anthony's Xanth series. I still have my copies of the Rings of the Master and Changewinds by Chalker as well as a couple of his other books. You certainly found some oldies but goodies.

I clicked your video waiting to hear you explain why you dislike this episode. You then proceeded to read the script verbatim, which I'm not interested in hearing, so I skipped to the end hoping you would explain why you disliked this episode. You didn't. Maybe you paused during the reading of the script to explain which parts you didn't like, but I'm not devoting 25 minutes of my day to hear a poor reading of an episode I can just watch. I'm not going to click the thumbs down button since you're a smaller channel and I don't wish to stifle your growth, but I did in my mind. Maybe there are people out there who are interested in watching you read scripts, but I'm not one of them. To attract those viewers, change the title to "A Fan Reading of the Chain of Command Part 2" or something. Your title implies that will do a deep dive on what aspects of the Chain of Command you dislike, which is a controversial position to take as I, and many other TNG fans, think this one of the top 3 episodes of the entire series (I only place Yesterday's Enterprise and Hero Worship ahead of it). Patrick Stewart's acting in the torture scenes is unmatched, making it most Trekkies favorite performance of his on the show outside of mind-melding with Sarek or crying in front of his brother in Family. Making the argument that this episode is bad is an uphill battle among most Star Trek fans, even if you had offered a very carefully crafted argument.

sorry, I do mention in the beginning of part 1 that these episodes make me feel uncomfortable. I just wanted to get through them. To prove to myself that I could. I also mention these episodes (can't tell you which videos or when) that I was not looking forward to this one because of the torturing of picard. After doing these recap episodes for over a year. And there are a few that I ask tech questions. But I felt no one was actually watching my videos. My analytics says people only watch for 30 seconds. Thank you for watching. I could use the positive support, especially after all the "garbled" videos at the beginning of season 6.

Interesting, Generally I enjoy most next gen two parters. They definitely pull out more stops and try to ramp up the writing and emotional impact. Gul Madred(one of the three Cardassion names I remember on average) is portrayed brilliantly by David Warner, full of all of the civilized evils of a totalitarian society. Polite torture, designed to break the mind of an individual more than just physical torture to break the body and have the mind follow(although this is a part of the package. the snipits of Cardassian culture espoused by Madred are a core of the episode. I don't blame you for being uncomfortable with the subject of torture, that isn't for everyone and they do a fantastic job depicting a torture situation, although I would state what they depict in the torture scenes is still within good taste and not terribly graphic. I'm personally not a fan or Jerico and think his style of command is outside what we've come to expect from the TNG era captains, and shouldn't have as much of a disconnect dealing with the crew as we get a feeling up to this point that the enterprise crew isn't Atypical. But it's a part of the conflict and they do a good job dealing with his plan starting to deteriorate and needing the enterprise crew itself to pull off his plan before it completely falls off the rails. The exploration of Picard as a victim, displaing the weakness he felt helps to develop him as a character who is just a human, another reminder that anything can happen to anyone, not just "red shirts" Given that much mental stress almost breaking, or breaking more accurately but not willing to admit it when it happened, it is one of the biggest horrors of torture. I was so relieved he survived unbroken, I knew he would be but at the same time they did manage to create enough suspension I forgot he was protected by the script. Overall I think this episode is a masterpiece of taking our assumptions of the universe and dumping them on their head, but in a good way. We have the violent Klingons who even as allies to the federation created brutal enemies at times, the Romulins a paranoid mysterious culture based off of control and a threat equal to the federation in power, and we have one of the first developed episodes showing off the Cardassians. The Cardassians themselves needed to be seen as a threat even if they weren't necessarily as advanced/powerful as the Federation, they arn't as violent and warriorlike as the Klingons..... their threat was a cultural one. The needed to establish the casual brutality of the cardassians established as a cultural rival to the federation. They were a barely contained threat that the federation couldnt afford to pacify either ideologically or politically even if they did have the resources as they would have to divert enough people and manpower that they surely lose elsewhere. This was a new tension to feel and the slow burn of torture showed just how different the societies were, the first episodes with cardassians almost established them as a people we could learn to empathize with, and they needed to show how that was the rarity now. Anyway, congrats on getting past the episode as it clearly made you very uncomfortable! Keep up the good work.
