GP was very groundbreaking at the time…GP tackled social issues and made it a great show to watch and learn from

thanks for sharing these episodes…I worked on the production back in the day and it feels like I am revisiting my family ❤️ I would always look forward to the guest cast, some of which GP ‘discovered’, like a young Cate Blanchett, who had recently graduated from NIDA.

About bloody TIME. I was a court reporter at the time of these events and also went to all meetings held by the eyewitnesses present that night at Ayer's Rock and including the evidence of aboriginal trackers. Nobody supported the prosecution's claims and yet the eyewitnesses' and trackers' testimonies were overall ignored by the NT government, Police and prosecutors. It instead seemed a quest was on to imprison her for life because the Chamberlains being found innocent would have made the Northern Territory government appear inept and incompetent (which I believe later became obvious). I was particularly astounded at how willing other Australians were to hang, draw and quarter the Chamberlains. Their responses and reactions may have been different to how other people THOUGHT they 'should' react in the face of such serious pressure and allegations, but that doesn't mean they were murderers or that anybody has the right to judge them for such a serious crime - especially with no evidence of that crime being even produced. It was all based on their public reactions to continued media harassment, public gossip and outright slander. We are all different in upbringing, nature, mannerisms, way of thinking etc. and respond under severe stress, in different ways. The Chamberlains imo were very seriously wronged and should have received about 10 times more than they did, especially as their children suffered also. Terrible prejudice, ignorance and hate presided in this case, which had little to do with actual evidence or truth.

Why compare islam with fascism? Millions of muslims fought against the nazis during WW2. Only several thousands chose for the German occupants. The quote against nazis / in favour of nazis is with Christians far more "pro nazi". The originals Zionists (Irgun and Stern) cooperated with nazi's during WW2. Menachem Begin was leader of Irgun. And later prime minister of Israel. They fought the UK during WW2. The UK had to divide the troups between nazis and Zionists. In the Koran Jews are only critized when those Jews don't follow their own orthodox Jews. Then they are compared with apes.

Wonder if that guy who admitted to the gay bashing wound up getting subsequently punished. Judging from the history of Sydney I suspect the answer would be no.

Wow, Australians were really chill about stuff that early on. You have my respect, kangaroo land! By the way: what a great example that even back then women were terrible at dealing with rejection, lol! The first thing she does after hearing that the dude is genetically unable to be attracted to her is insult him, like he did it out of malice or something!

As for Murray's bullshit - he always was a B&H member, him and his mates mobbed and smashed up gigs by bands they didn't like, he organised for B&H and for C18 and other neo-Nazi groups for decades to come, he was involved with members of the ANM who actively went out and terrorised Perth, and the reason he got by with it for so long was his very close and friendly relationship with Western Australian Police officers. Him and his skinhead mates were always pissweak cowards who would attack people mob-handed, but never wanted any part of a square go. And in spite of his anti-authority bullshit, he was a dog too.

If my memory serves me correctly you were part of the media, the shock crap on mainstream media. I think A Current Affair is part of that. Journalism is supposed to be a craft, non political and objective based reporting. Still pushing the accelerator in this interview.

Brilliant documentary and rather fine performances from its actors (Norman Rodway's closing argument speech was delivered with an incredible quiet power). Mary Whitehouse was really the death throes of a dying age. Since her time the church itself has virtually vanished. I think she helped in that change. I don't think she was an unreasonable woman but she was an anachronism in her own time. NB I had an interview at the RAF Careers office in 1991 and was asked why I thought the questionnaire I'd filled out had asked if I was a homosexual? The Sergeant seemed to study me meaningfully while I pondered why the hell it should matter. He seemed suitably impressed when I eventually came up doubtfully with "Blackmail?" Exactly, he said.

Recently retired Stationmaster Chris Parr was responsible for the beautiful gardens on the platform, he also created the one at Woodford years prior and was a winner of many SRA Railway Garden awards in the past. The signal box only closed about two years or so back, also there is a local history museum atop of the station which is well worth a video/visit. Do a return visit and video in winter when the platforms and yard are covered in snow...
