This is by far one of my favourite organic chemistry demos. Most o-chem is pretty boring looking in terms of the reactions and their products. As long as you do it right, anyways, heh. So, to have one that has such a striking effect is quite a rarity. And thus, a real treat.

Is the animal at least anesthetized? Did they perform a perfusion during this? I have done a lot of fixation of mice brains in NBF, but after grossing. The perfusions I’ve done were with the skull intact, I don’t think I could do one if the mouse was not completely anesthetized with Iso.

I have a quick question. I am a soon to be senior. I attend a high school in St. Augustine fl. I want to do the mechanical engineering major but am nervous about cost. I have family in minnesota (I was also born there). Is it possible to acquire in state tution after attending school for a year if I live with family? If not, are there a lot of scholarship opportunities for someone like me? My family makes less than 60k a year. Unfortunately, I have a 3.3 unweighted GPA currently, but I am on track to make a 5.0 junior year, so my grades have really improved. Do you know if there will be a good amount of scholorships for someone in my situation?

If you have questions about scholarship opportunities for University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering students, send an email to [email protected] explaining situation and questions. Someone will then follow up with you. Good luck!

I am crying right now, because as an international student, I really want to be here, have my Phd research on aerodynamics. I am really pained that things get tighter and more competitive for international students seeking aerospace engineering. It sad that the world is not fair.

. . . and quietly behind the scenes, one of your institutes--The Charles Babbage Institute--recognized for decades as the world's leading center for the study of the history of computing and information technology, has quietly been advising key influencers and officials about AI and other important current technology issues. Maybe that should not be kept a secret any longer.

Our weather balloon flights typically reach between 80,000 and 100,000 ft. That particular flight was terminated - the vent cut itself away from the balloon - at 97,000 ft.

@@umnCSEWas all of the helium vented out, or did the balloon keep going up past 97,000 feet?

Fascinating! I avoided chemistry at school when I was at the stage I could choose subjects to study here in UK but, looking back, I realise I missed out on so much. I an now understand how these materials are made. Very clear and well explained. Thank you so much!

"Multidisciplinary" and "interdisciplinary" truly is the name of the game. I have always proposed to scrap specializations from undergrad course-work. How can one know, at the typical exposure of a first-year student, what coursework shall be relevant to their research (and conversely, what topics may be 'skippable'). Cool to se that even choreography works as a wonderful visualization-aid in pinpointing how molecules and cells go about their business. Thanks!

From reading Bird and Sherwin's book, it seems clear that Oppenheimer was a communist for a short period of his life. However, the book does not mention Oppenheimer's homosexual romances during his student years, a fact that is referred to in other biographies...
