What is the difference between east coast swing and the jive?
@SocialDanceOnline
@SocialDanceOnline 2 сағат бұрын
So, jive, east coast swing, and single time swing (jitterbug) are all the same dance. They vary in the music speed and style it is danced. Jive and single time swing are danced to the same speeds of music which are rather fast. Jive moves the feet fast and picks up the knees a it. Single time swing takes the triple step out to make the fast music manageable. East coast swing dances to slower music and doesn’t pick up the knees as much.

how do you sync quick quick slow with 4/4 pop music?
@SocialDanceOnline
@SocialDanceOnline 2 сағат бұрын
Different dances can go to different songs. You have to find the songs that fit the style of dance. Nightclub is done to slower songs. Like savage gardens truly madly deeply is a faster nightclub but it can be danced to that song.

This is a country dance. Not something you typically do in a nightclub. The name of the style of dance is nightclub two step.

I'm not sure what kind of criteria that you're personally going by to determine whether it's a twinkle or not, but a progressive twinkle is definitely a twinkle because twinkle means change of direction or position and you are doing both repeatedly when dancing this pattern as you're going in and out closed frame to outside partner, so that's your change of position and you're change of Direction Heavens as you zig Zagg long down the line of dance facing diagonal Center and then diagonal wall Etc. Hope that helps!💜

Haha it was just confusing for students so I joked that it was more like outside partner and they understood a lot better.
@spacehippi13

I totally know what you mean. Lol. My students get confused about that one when they're learning it, as well. I think it's because it's the only twinkle that doesn't have a Promenade shape in it, so it gets confusing for them because it's the oddball, since all the other twinkles generally start by going into a Promenade shape. I usually have them run through all the twinkles, and I always remind them to start with the Oddball twinkle first, so they can get it out of the way, so they don't forget about it, before they run through the ones that start with a Promenade. Lol. And on a personal note, I really love what you do on youtube. When I need some inspiration or just something hopefully different than what's already in my repertoire, especially so I can give my Advanced students some new fun stuff to try out, I often surf through your posts, especially the ones for minor dances, like WCS and NC2S to get inspiration = Inspire Action. Thank you for being Awesome!💜 Sending you lots of awesome dance energy with extra Sparkle!💜💫 ✨️💃🕺✨️

Got a question, when I learned to two step as the lead, I do 1. left foot foward, right foot meets it, 2. Left foot forward, right foot meets it, 3. Right foot back/to the right, then repeat I learned it that way in DFW and I see old people dance that way in Bakersfield California. For the life of me I cant find videos on it! Hoping you could help! Love the videos as a beginner!

I was disgusted by the first three words the, seemingly, professional woman spoke when she tried to humourise what has become softened curse words, namely - w.t.f. - which were derived from What The .... ye know the other. Why try to "improve" nonsense talk, rubbish, lies by humourising, or even humourising them at all. Cut-out the childishness FOOL-ishnesses and stick to teaching My apologies for this rant but too many people are too easily lead by too many fools instead of some people becoming leaders.

Hi, love the video, but are you starting on the 1 count? When I try to dance socially all the women start dancing on the 2 count. This leads to an immediate confusion. Can I adapt your video so I start Forward Left on the 2? I also find the 2 harder to find reliably which is not helping. Do you have a video with the 2 count? Thanks, Peter
