intro to far from heaven is definitely a tapping riff but I'll let it slide.

Before I ask my question, I want to say that I’m far from being a good guitar player. My question is that my ears alternate picking twice per string but no matter how fast I practice on a single string to get that rhythm, it sounds so off. Is it just down picking the entire time? It’s possible I’m hearing the effects in the amp as well. Also, if anyone has any advice for how to get that tone out of a Boss Katana 50W i would really appreciate it!
@BelcanBlack2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure about your question, but I'm doing alternate with mutes. Also I'm using the Neural DSP archetype gojira plugin. I've never used the boss katana, but maybe there are gojira presets. Here I'm setting the gain pretty low to get more punch on those mutes.

@@BelcanBlackthank you for the response. Basically my issue is do I play the E,A,and D string 33,22,55 or do I play it 3,2,5. I hope this makes sense and I’m sorry if this is even more confusing. When I double pick the same string as shown on the tabs, no matter how fast I play, it sounds nothing like The Trails. I think I’m just over thinking this.

It is 33, 22, 55, but in standard D

Jesus,I honestly thought the intro was a lot slower and easier when I first heard this song, but after seeing you hammer on relentlessly , I'm like shit. Also, I dont have a 7 string anymore, so I guess it's a nope for me. Well covered such an epic song and album. Do you prefer OWTFH or TSOTB?
@BelcanBlack2 ай бұрын
TSOTB because it's a classic for me already, but both albums are meticulously well done

I was trying to learn this when I found this video. The part that follows the main riff at the 12,14,15,17 frets (according to tabs) is throwing me off, and hard to tell what you're hitting cause so damn fast😂. Any tips you can share?
@BelcanBlack2 ай бұрын
Hahaha use those hammer-ons ans pull-offs wisely. I play: 0(pick), 14(h), 15(h), 17(pick), 15(pick), 14(pull-off), 0(pick), and so on. I'm sure you'll get it eventually buddy!

What a great song! Does not look too complex, but there is something about The Contortionists music that is unique and is simply awesome to listen to their albums as a set, such great writing. Would love to see some more from The Contortionist, I really like the song Causality - the first song I ever heard by them. Love the tapping section, it is simply just something else - like it can put you in a trance or something! Check out this guys cover of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2GkfaV3rtCHaZo - for what it is worth... this guy looks a lot like I do! Cheers

@@BelcanBlack Hey, thanks for your reply. I have been in a funk for a while and it got way worse recently... so music is one place where no one bothers me and I can go and know that I can endure. Some of the sounds and moods that the prog rock / djent bands can sound like they are from another reality, it is like you can experience some perfection for a few minutes while the songs play...
