Go to Copart and look at the stuff if you're going to buy way out of town. If you're buying locally which is smart that way you can go up there and see what they have you don't have to go in deep but there's always going to be shit you're not going to see you can't tear into a car without tearing into a car

If you're going to think you're going to get a great deal at Copart you better think again. What you're getting at Copart is basically fees out the yin-yang unless you go full-blown dealer. And there's a reason why these cars are at copart. If it's at Copart it means that it's at its end of its life and it's going to take somebody to bring it back to life. And if it's a deal that's too good to be true trust me when you get it you're going to find all kinds of shit wrong with it. Don't believe all these videos online these people are making plenty of money off the video alone to fund building a car that would cost you about the same amount of money to just buy the damn thing

There's a reason they call them "used vehicles" instead of "new vehicles"-because someone has already used them. As a buyer, it’s crucial to do your homework, understand the vehicle’s retail value, and assess the cost of necessary repairs. If the repair costs exceed the vehicle's value, you’ve likely overpaid. Like Eric O says, not all cars at the auction are junk, but there are junk cars at the auction. You can't rely on others to do the legwork for you. If the vehicle has been in an accident, remember there’s usually both primary and secondary damage to consider. Be aware of common issues with the make and model, and calculate how much you’re willing to invest in repairs. Sometimes, buying the same make and model from a private owner might be a better option.

Jill has experience being an estimator for body shops. She can look at simple clues to whether or not to even bid on anything. twisted body, bent frame etc. I let her look and she will be able identify problem. If we were to bid hire amount she would go to the place and look. I agree looking for yourself is the best way. No one has more to lose then the person buying the car.

So I didn't hear how this $650 turned into you coughing up nealy $5k for it. Did I miss something, not trying to hate but when you initially made the statement my jaw dropped. Not sure I have heard how come it got to that much. You have told us about fees in a very long and drawn out way but you have not shown a price break down that takes us to 5k. If I missed it then I am a Fwit and please correct me. Seems you are griping about cars at auction being worse than they appear. Well, why do you think a car ends up at action? Because it's a great car? or because no one would buy it on a lot so they dumped it? I have personal experience of trying to buy a Suburban RST from a Chevy main dealer, it was used but during the test drive the tranny started to do what seemed like odd things. I told them correct it and I will take it for the asking price. A day later they called me (Big chevy dealer) and said, and I quote. "Our mechanical team has assed the truck and it needs a transmission in our opinion. We are going to send it to auction" and they did! Cars have always been this way. I am 54 and have been in the game many years. Piles of chit go to auction, be prepared to be lied to, hornswoggled and cheated. It's auction, that's why the car is there. No one else will buy it when they get a good look at it. I hear a lot of bitching about auctions. Seems to be just a little naivety on the buyers part more than a scam. Your at auction, know where you are and the environment you are in, what to expect and never bid on a car without seeing it. Sellers can hide all kinds of crap and nasty surprises. IMHO, anyone's first mistake is bidding on a car at auction without going to see it unless you are a big repair shop that makes it living resurrecting truly dead cars. Auctions are like the trash can of cars, you wouldn't eat food out of a trash can because it's dead, bad, not good in some way. Buy a car from a trash can and you should already know what your getting into. Don't buy at auction unless you are prepared to get ripped off at some point especially if you didn't see that car at time of bidding. That's a fools game and you know the saying. A fool and his money are easily parted. Read as, a fool at an auction and his money are easily parted. Don't buy auction cars in a state of naivety, just plain old ignorance or after taking a hit on hopium. It's at auction for a reason, it's a POS that needs life support, be prepared to provide the life support and resurrect your dream car. There are the odd good one and I am sure someone in the comments will love to tell me I am talking chit but I am not, nor am I emotional about selling cars. I am a realist and when it comes to money and buying things. You truly have zero friends and no one does anyone else a favor at auction. It's like going to war and them complaining they are shooting at you. Errr duh, yeah of course they are, your at war, know where you are and why you're there, you want a cheap car you can fix and make money on or drive. Hopium just won't get the job done. Understand what you are doing, why, and the ramifications of it all going wrong. Then bid and not until them. Hopium isn't worth chit inthe real world and most of the time neither ar auction cars for the regular Joe despite what idiots in You Tube may have you believe. Get over it, enjoy the car and spread the good messages about what you have done and what you have achieved rather than having a bitch about it and "trying to let everyone know". If they are buying at auction they should already know and if the don't know then I refer you back to my statement about fools and auctions. In this world of hurt feelings people just need to grow up and get some fking sak.

Their fixed fees can certainly be a good bit on inexpensive cars. I bought a Celica GT-S for $2,600 and it ended up being about $3,200 after fees. Luckily I knew the car ran and drove fine as the KZbinr I bought it from drove it 700+ miles before he sold it. I flew in and drove it 450 miles home. My son is still driving it now, a good 18 months later!

@@1Five1Garagemaybe it depends on the state, or if a car is salvage or not, but I didn't pay sales tax when I bought it, only when I transferred the title to my name in my state. March 2023 it was a $500 buyers fee (based on sales price), $79 gate fee, $99 virtual bid fee, $10 environmental fee, and $2 transaction fee! 😂 I think the fees are even more now. If you get a good price, like yours, then the fees are not too bad. But so many cars are going for high prices, it isn't a great deal anymore much of the time. I've bid on several other cars and they just go for too much! Good luck on the search for your car!

@@1Five1Garage interesting. Wonder if that rule is location by location cause I know of handfuls of guys that have taken jump boxes into Copart to start, or attempt to start, a car that your interested in buying. And it could simply be on a case by case basis cause my buddies I’m talking about are well known to the guys at Copart cause they have shops and they buy and rebuild a ton of Copart cars and may have. rules about it to keep private buyers from destroying things worse than they are and my buddies are not escorted to the vehicles with employees either so they either don’t have those same rules everywhere or they are lenient on them depending upon who you are

Hey . Is enhanced vehicles cars . Working ?
@1Five1Garage
@1Five1Garage 9 күн бұрын
From Copart's web site = Vehicles listed as "Enhanced Vehicles" are those where: (i) the seller has authorized Copart to perform an enhancement service to the vehicle such as a wash and vacuum or protective covering or (ii) the vehicle is under a program that gives Copart discretion to utilize enhancement services to maximize the value of the vehicle. This designation does not guarantee that any enhancement service was completed but rather indicates that qualifying vehicles would likely be enhanced. It is the Member's responsibility to inspect and verify the utilization of enhancement services. It just means that they wanted better care of the vehicle. Such as... putting a 250k super car with a broken glass inside so it doesn't rain on the inside of the vehicle.

Thank you for making this one as well. It answered a bunch of questions i had . I would like to add if I could ,that here in California ,The title will always say salvaged if it has been. California simply does not issue you a title until you have the inspections done. Then you will get a salvage title. they will never issue a "rebuilt". Also most insurance companies will only give you liability coverage as well. Other states seem like they are way more friendly at giving cars another life.

A great way to sidestep all the extra work. Ever ready makes a wireless switch system. No need for wires to come into the cab. Everything hooks up under the hood. Place the unit where you like and run the wires out. I’ve got that in my pickup. I’m looking at a couple broncos at the moment. And a couple have the sunglass holder.
