Semmangudi Srinivasa iyer had a distinct style that enriched Carnatic music. He is known as a 'Sadhaka' because of the hard work he put in to evolve his energetic style of singing.

I've been a fan of Balachander since I found the Marvellous Melakarta Melodies Vol2 in Roopanand Bros shop in Grey St Durban, South Africa. in 1977 - his music is quite difficult to find. His playing is so wild and uplifting.
