I bought Colarusso's Nart Sagas From The Caucasus on a whim yesterday afternoon. I had seen it at a second hand shop a few weeks ago, and happened to pass by it a second time. It felt a shame to leave it there, so I bought it. I have a deep fascination with PIE history, Indo-European mythology, comparative mythology, etc. I can't wait to do a proper deep dive on the content in the book.

August 2024 -- delighted to have found this talk, and to explore further while listening -- 'pause-search-read-ponder' again and again. And I even found a digital dl of Hans Vaihinger's 'Philosophy of As If' for CDN$ 2.65 -- tickled as can be to have this too!

I have a copy of his translation of Nart sagas. Awesome stories. You can really see the Indo-European connection in them. Similarities to Greek, Vedic and Norse myth

We are past the age of the Gods (the elemental raised to god-like status) into the age of the God or Universal Consciousness (Consciousness or the ‘hard problem’) for atheistic philosophers). Where do we go from here? There is no unity in perception as people are at all levels of human consciousness from the earthly, or physical, to the electrical, or mental, to the electro-magnetic: the feeling mode, or to the actual source, or magnetism. That goal reached is only the beginning and brings us into space. Beyond is hyperspace, What is it? Possibly the mental freed from the elemental, being independent of the elemental as is consciousness. So hyperspace would be consciousness and mind freed.. Beyond that is likely Unity or merging with the Whole, which can be merged with temporarily, as desired, or permanently, if so desired. The Precession of the Equinoxes and our rotation on it (the Wheel) keeps us going around until we individually emancipate ourselves, one at.a time. There are no mass enlightenments although individual enlightenments may take place around the same time

Hi. How can someone incorporate spirituality if their life, if their an athiest and have no religious knowledge.? Or does he mean 'becoming a whole' is spurituality in ones self?
@MacMacPherson
@MacMacPherson 9 ай бұрын
hi@@mrlee924 spirituality is much bigger and wider than the traditional religions... i myself am an agnostic (to me, the only rational response to something that nobody can prove or disprove)... for some people, a love of nature is so strong as to be spiritual, for others, meditation is deeply spiritual (it is for me, i practice zen buddhism, which is not a religion)... also there are some highly intelligent analysts, eg lionel corbett, who consider carl jung's approach to be wholly spiritual (i agree)... hope this helps a little

There are no “homosexual” paths in myth, but there are definitely myths about Pederasty. Apollo and Kyparissos, Apollo and Hyacinthus, Poseidon and Pelops, Dionysus and Ampelos, probably Achilles and Patroclus… just to name some from Greek mythology.

learn the Ossetian language, and you will truly open up new horizons of knowledge. For the Ossetian language is recognized by the Iranians themselves as more archaic.

That was lovely. Thank you! I’m new to listening to Jung inspired talkers and not clear on what Individuation means. Individuate from what? Towards what? 🙏🏽❤
@MacMacPherson
@MacMacPherson 11 ай бұрын
Individuation is the process of integrating the conscious and unconscious aspects of one's Self to become a unified, whole person. It involves recognising and confronting one's shadow side and integrating those darker elements into the Self. The goal of individuation is to achieve a sense of self-realisation and wholeness.
@katiakatiakat

@@MacMacPhersonthank you for your reply! I think if individuating as a kind of breaking off and coming into oneself. Like when a child individuates from a parent. So the Jungian concept feels counterintuitive to me. How does one do what your talking about. What kind of therapist would they work with? A Jungian analyst? Thanks again!
@MacMacPherson

@@katiakatiakat yes a jungian analyst, it was jung who coined the term 'individuation' and his process is aimed at helping the individual achieve this

Adding to Becca’s comment on the repressed feminine I find the voice of Iain Mcgilchrist’s The Master and his Emissary. Though I dont remember if he actually speaks of ‘the feminine’ as such, his describing the two brain hemispheres and the usurping of the master by a ‘dominating’ emissary.

Dr.Mehmet Oz , who recently lost the race to be governor of Pennsylvania , is the son of. parents from Turkey , and his mother is of Circassian descent . The ancient pre-islamic Turks were also famous for their skills with metallurgy . And their possible ancient connections with the native Americans are fascinating .

With all due respect, you couldn't have chosen a worse presenter for this fascinating topic. Indo-European history is probably my favorite subject, and even I found his presentation unbearable. Very sad when someone takes what should be a fiery and mind-blowing theory and renders it to a point where even I, an enthusiast, find it dull & boring. Very ironic that this person claims to have enraptured a room full of Circassians with his speech and to have coached politicians on oratory. I strongly encourage you to look through the videos uploaded by Mr. Thomas Rowsell of Survive the Jive, Mr. Dan Davis of Dan Davis History, or Mr. Kevin MacLean of Fortress of Lugh, and to present some of those to your class. Dr. Jackson Crawford (and the eponymous KZbin channel) is also fairly decent; Dr. Crawford lacks the amount of visuals that the aforementioned channels have, but does make use of some, and is entertaining enough, even though it's usually just him speaking to the camera. You need some passion in these presentations to stoke interest. It's borderline irresponsible for the presenter to have acted this way, as it may turn off those who would otherwise be captivated by the subject.
