I believe it's been 40+ years since I first heard this song. Was it at an Allies show, or perhaps on the EP? 😱 I'm old.

It first was released as an Allies single on 45. I then did a version for a solo album. This is a re-mastered version of that track.

HEARTBROKEN MAN Glazed over eyes Her words came slowly She apologized I said don't worry Just tell me why So I'll understand I'm not a jealous guy But I am a heartbroken man You were gone so long Is all she tells me I'm just not strong The night's so lonely And he was here It crept up on me slowly I didn't mean to fall in love But now just let me go please Just tell me why So I'll understand I'm not a jealous guy But I am I call her name God knows I don't want to I picture him Knowing things that I knew Glazed over eyes My words come slowly I apologize and she says No need to worry No need to worry

YOU KNOW In the days of old When the King sang songs It was a good idea To sing along You know I'm done with that I want a brand new start You can't put the squeeze On a beating heart You know On the mountain top It’s a lonely chime It's a low bar, baby This social climb You can eat that cake You can kiss that ring I’m not wasting my time On that kind of thing

A little trouble in Sunset City What to do when the sun goes down Got a friend with a girl too pretty Were together when he’s out of town Did my best to try to forget her Did my best just to stay away But when we touch we touch because When we kiss we kiss because When we love we love because It’s lonely in the city when the sunlight fades away A little rumor in Sunset City About a boy friend who’s back in town He knows it’s been just a little too cozy Heard his women been running around If I were him I’d never forgive me How the hell can I explain That when we touch we touch because When we kiss we kiss because When we love we love because It’s lonely in the city when the sunlight fades away A little trouble in Sunset City A little heat when the sun goes down He’s a friend but she’s so pretty We’re together when he’s out of town Did my best to try to forget her Still I love her anyway When we touch we touch because When we kiss we kiss because When we love we love because It’s lonely in the city It’s lonely in the city when It’s lonely in the city when the sunlight fades away

The Lesser Time for the monsters of this world To fade away and be unheard Time for the evil, time for the cruel Broken by anger and it’s tools Time for the greedy who don’t understand Time for the masters killing this land Time for the sleepers and gentle souls Time for the wistful vision it holds Time for the stars webbing the night Time for the others left holding the light Time for the stewards, time for the peace Time for the lesser To say the least Imagine if you will A minor miracle A house upon a hill Where we all belong Time for the stars webbing the night Time for the others left holding the light Time for the stewards Time for the peace Time for the lesser To say the least

HALO A simple walk by the river Never felt so good Feeling the rays on her face Seeing the detail she never quite could Pushing the push back away She's taking a liking today Taking a liking today Everything that life is throwing her way She's taking a liking today A story of a mother And a scrawny little kid The obstacles that stood in their way Finally understanding all the things That she did Putting the anger away Leaving a few crumbs behind Making sure she can find A measure of safety If she ever wants to go home In that halo of forgiveness When she finally came clean Held all the illusions at bay She had the revelation it’s our own damn dream And let the disappointment Dissipate

LAST HONEST MAN It's a miracle It's a virgin birth and so much more He's an outlier He's not your everyday for sure He's the last honest man And he shines on down You've got to give it up Immortalize him with a song This anomaly He won't be with us very long He's the last honest man And he shines on down From the blue diamond skies To the hard, cold ground You've got to give it up Give it up for the last honest man Got to shout it out Shout it out while you still can It's a miracle Here he comes he's going by again It's a miracle Wonder where it is he's been You know you’ve got to love him

REUNION Around this town there’s nothing but the water In it’s day it held a kind of shine Lives were made for better if not richer The world made sense At least a breath at a time Now the paint’s all peeling in twilight The trees sway like nobody knows I can see you the way I used to see you In this used to be town We used to know Take me back I’ll meet you by the water We can dance as if we aren’t old We’ll speak like lovers to each other Laugh at all the simple lies We were told The paint’s all peeling in twilight The trees sway like nobody knows We can marvel at being together In this used to be town We used to know Around this town there’s nothing but the water In it’s day it held a kind of shine Lives were made for better if not richer The world made sense At least a breath at a time Take me back I’ll meet you by the water Take me back I’ll meet you by the water In this used to be town We used to know In this used to be town

TROUBLE I'm heading for a place called Trouble A place of deep, dark despair And no friend that I have clung to Will I find them living there Take a left around some corner Through the stale night air And the fire you'll see a-burning The glow will lead you there It's a place called Trouble With the hard ruined men Where the gift of life you've squandered You don't get back again I'm going to a place called Trouble I'm passing through a place called Trouble And the gift of life I've squandered I'll win it back again

TAKE YOUR TIME Take your time That's what she said Pour yourself a cup of coffee And I'll make the bed A morning moon Is in the sky All the screamers of the night Have passed us by See the world Come to life See the streets fill up with people In the morning light I'll take my time Take it in There's no place I have to be No prize to win I'm strolling down my road to ruin I don't believe I'll be there soon I don't know why I don't care when It ain't no sin I take my time See the world Running down One by one The lights go off around this town Time for dreams Behind the blinds And she turns to me And tells me take your time I'm strolling down my road to ruin I don't believe I'll be there soon I don't know why I don't care when It ain't no sin I take my time

SALISH SEA Take me along When you go I will be good for you How would you ever know? Take me along Here I stand Ragged as love forlorn But, still an honest man Take me along You will find I'll keep your company Even in desperate times Take me along I foresee That we will make a home Here by the Salish Sea Something better than nothing Let me make my case A chance to leave a brokenhearted place Take me along Promise me That we will live alone Here by the Salish Sea

NO MAN’S LAND Sadly Sometimes she looks at me so sadly And all that I can do Is look away Silence So much emotional violence Something inside of her She can't explain This no man's land We understand Can not be claimed What doubt or fear That we brought here Will remain Bad dreams Left alone with my gray things I have no medicine Of which I know I know I fall so short of what I know Even the falling Feels like shame This no man’s land Can not be claimed But, you and I We still try Human Sometimes so hard to feel human Even when two of us Love the same

THE POET'S JOB It's the poet's job to sit and think Watch all his fingers grow fat and pink Shun the shovel and lift the drink No need for working harder Rich man says the poor are poor By their own works and there's no more To do for them but show them the door And say they must work harder Poor man says life's not fair With all that gold you're hoarding there Starve my children to oil your hair And we keep working harder It's the poet's job to sit and think Watch all his fingers grow fat and pink Shun the shovel and lift the drink No need for working harder The poet yawns, counts his coins To buy another round But, the price of inspiration can't be found Pick him up, toss him in bed Those weighty words inside his head Surely keep him tethered to the ground Rich man says the poor are poor Poor man shouts I'll work no more Poet's slumped on the kitchen floor Waiting to expire It's the poet's job to sit and think Watch all his fingers grow fat and pink Shun the shovel and lift the drink No need for working harder

The Angel of Swain’s Lane The Angel of Swain's Lane Is calling me again She shines through the railings And sycamores wailing A figure of pity and pain The Angel is crying again They see her come and go Through the park at Waterlow The souls she's keeping As company sleeping In sepulchres buried below The angel is lonely, I know. Does she see me? Does she care? Does she cry Without a prayer? The Angel of Swain's Lane Is crying out in vain For someone departed Forlorn, broken-hearted A figure of pity and pain... The Angel is crying again. The Angel is crying again.

WOW, Thank you Carl! Beautiful! Speaking of Unfinished Business. I just did an interview with NPR about the Orca captures of 1970 & 1971... I told the story of how I took your Dad out to the whalers who had rounded up the Orca, and where he took those historic pictures! Tokitae, the one whale still alive after the travesty of the capture, may soon be repatriated to her home waters! Unfinished Business! I think your Dad would approve! Thank you Wally V. Funk!

BIG CITY GIRLS I'm in the corner You're in your usual place The lights of the city Reflecting on and off your face No stereo on, no TV No murmur of a broken heart You never tell me you miss me You're too proud to play that part Big city girls have a way of being all right I wonder could you ask me Just once where I've been You take it for granted I'll always be back again If there was another woman Would you even want to know You never tell me you love me You're too scared to let it show Big city girls have a way of being all right Big city girls have a way to get through the night Big city girls never cry when they're left alone Big city girls are the rule and the city's their own And you're a big city girl You're a big city girl No tears from a big city girl
