Those early pulling years were insane, no roll cage, no helmets, no fire suits, no scatter blankets, hauling up and down the highway with overloaded trailers and underpowered tow rigs made out of old school buses, just fun.

Sometime in 1979 - 1980 I followed my older brother Jim from Newark Delaware up into Pennsylvania to attend a small-town Tractor Pull event. We drove twisty narrow back roads the whole way with me in my '74 VW Beetle trying to keep up with Jim in his '66 Pontiac GP 389 with triple carbs. Somehow I made it to the event, which was very likely the same track shown in this video. It was truly wild watching those insane machines. I'll never forget the one with a massive12-cyl Allison aircraft engine that hung it's front wheels in the air right in front of my seat at the finish line, engine screaming, driving wheels digging up the ground. When the driver cut the throttle, the front of the tractor came bouncing back to the ground, and FIRE rose up out of the 12 straight pipe headers to a height of about 25 ft, and I felt like a piece of bread in a toaster for a few seconds. Got the adrenaline pumping I tell ya!

Did the TNT, USHRAdrivers get paid for wins/finish position, or were they paid an appearance fee...just curious.

Watching USA-1 vs Bigfoot, one can clearly see that Bigfoot 8 was a totally new design compared to the USA-1. It was literally two different classes of trucks competing.

God I love this video and bring back some great memories but also makes me feel old but Mike Holden Dusty Diamond I know him those Allison's he's had up to six of them in a tractor before Factory superchargers Turbo Charge fuel injection for Holley dominators on each one oh this is great. This is when life was fun I missed the 80s

Really been enjoying this kind of monster truck racing. Be fun to see a promoter bring back this style of racing with modern trucks.

I saw the Banters other 7-engine tractor about 5 years before this. Never saw the 7-engine tractor where #7 was behind the driver. That sandy track messed up a lot of drivers who overpowered it. I was really impressed with Phil Patterson on the Sassy Massey. I don't think he revved the engines to redline. Maybe he picked a higher gear to limit the power available and hauled it out the end effortlessly.

My Grandpa pulled here from the very beginning, he was one of the true pioneers of the sport, after retiring the Cockshutt Super 570 fit with 4 turbochargers, he was a lead announcer for NTPA for many years... His name was Lloyd Douglas, or.. Super Cecil Diesel... I was so lucky to get to go to ALL of the top pulls every summer... Every one of these pullers if asked if they remember Lloyd Douglas's grandson Derek always playing in the pits, would absolutely remember... and I remember them.. You posted another video of Tomah this same year, that is my Grandpa, my hero, announcing that pull, even catch a glimpse of him awarding Dave Banter... He Might of been announcing this one as well, I couldnt hear... anyways, NEVER... thought I would ever hear his voice again... THANK YOU!!!

What an event! So many champions from different series & even eras. I like how even though they couldn't show all 19 trucks run, they made an effort to get them in clips and in the background.
