First time I drove a 67 convertible I was disappointed with the way it drove but it was fun driving the Strip in Ft. Lauderdale back in 83, with it. I had a 68 Mustang convertible at the time, with some suspension work done, that just drove better. The Vette did better on the strip tho.

I owned a 1970 Mach 1 Mustang and bought a 77' Stingray for my hubby's 40th. BDay...he wouldn't attend my Mustang Car Club events with me, so I complained about that nonsense, he told me he would buy me a Corvette if I sold my Stang.😮😢 I said sure...but only if he bought me a 63' Vette.😂.....that shut him up.

I got to drive a 67 convertible, 427, 4-Speed. It was meticulously restored down to the tires. And to be honest, I think a big rig would handle better.

I am just about to get my grandpas old 03 duramax built the same as yours. It has 80k on it. Very excited to get it this fall from the lower 48. I use my trucks to tow a camper and crush mountains for highway construction. I’ve been using a 2003 sierra denali quadrasteer that’s got over 240k on it now. Need that diesel bad. 27 foot trailer and moving all over the place constantly.

I dated a woman who has a Convertible version of this car, in Blue, with a White Top. She never drove it. One night she asked me if I would drive the car as she was needing to move it from one storage location to another. The was a fun drive, but way to short. This was more than 25 years ago, wonder if she still has the car?

the 327/350 (RPO L79) was a popular choice on the 1967 Corvette. 6,375 people ordered them and they were only available with 4-speeds. The most powerful small block available in a full size 1967 Chevy was the 327/300.
@robertstancliffsr95754 ай бұрын
@@frankrichardcaruso6719 IMO the 327/350HP option was worth the money just for exhaust sound......especially at idle...also, it saved weight compared to the big-block 427.....The 327 350 was available in the Corvette, Chevelle and the Chevy II (Nova)...
@frankrichardcaruso67194 ай бұрын
@@robertstancliffsr9575 Agreed. The idle on those babies stirred your soul. And with the hydraulic lifters, you didn't have to bother yourself with adjusting valves like you did on the cars with the Duntov or 30-30 cammed cars. I had a '63 Fuelie Corvette that sounded even better than the L79 at idle (especially with the clatter of the solids) but what a pain to adjust. While I owned the Fuelie, I also had a '67 427/435 Corvette. Like you said, there was a substantial weight savings which made itself dramatically obvious in the way the two cars handled. A lightweight L79 Nova is an absolute screamer. Great cars and great fun.

This was build in 66,not 67!!you may have a 67 title, but just because was sold later in year!!! The 67 had a hood scoop!!
@frankrichardcaruso67195 ай бұрын
This is a '67. The VIN and trim tag can be used to tell if the car was "born" in '66 or '67, but this is definitely a 1967 model. Check the backup lights, the gas cap cover, the side vents, the interior knobs and e-brake location. All 1967 specific. The '67's with hood scoops were 427's. '67 327's had the same hood that this car has. This is the small block L79 327.

@@frankrichardcaruso6719 I owned a 67 white Corvette convertible. It was a rare car but not in a good way. It had about 8,000 miles when I bought it, and zero options. Cost me $3200. No options means it was a 3-speed manual with a 300HP 327, and it had no radio. It was still a lot of fun and I drove it to Key West Fla. and back from Arkansas in 1969. Great trip. I traded it in about a year later and for a while knew who owned it. After it had changed hands several times I even wondered it it would be valued higher as a "rare Corvette" because very few were made and sold sold with zero options? At least I had my one Corvette and it was a C-2. Sill the best looking Corvette IMO... .......

The 1967 tri-power intake is a high rise, but the tri-power intakes for 68 and 69 are low rise, due to the lower hood line. This cost some power in the later ones.

Most likely a special order just like you say. i worked on several of these in my HS Auto Shop class. Most of them had a 235 six, or 283 V8 with either a Power Glide or 3 speed manual. One kid in my class had one with the 3 speed and overdrive. He did something so that he could put it into overdrive in any gear. At least that is what he told us. The next year, the famous 409 would become available.

It was OK with 3.70 gears but was better with 4.11. However 4.56 was best for performance. Living in Texas the 4.56 was too deap so the 4.11 was used. It was a fun ride.

I had a cream yellow colored 1969 Coronet 440. It was basically the same car. I had it pre switch to unleaded gas. It was quick and held its own against other cars many wouldn't think it could have. It also had no problem burying the speedometer past 120 and getting it to bounce off the end. It was my first Mopar and car that really sold me ion Chrysler products. The car I owned before it was a 1969 Chevy Malibu. The Coronet was superior to the Malibu in every way! I remember vividly the day I first put unleaded gas in it because leaded gas was being rightly banned. It literally changed the sound of the engine and you could feel the performance loss. Lead just added in extra layer of lubrication you can't replace. Thanks for sharing a beautiful car generally under appreciated for what it was. What it was is one of those almost any person could own cars and solid dependable transportation. I really hate seeing the old original slant six and 318 cars being used for big block swaps and resto mods. They need to be loved for what they were and are.
