thak you so much for your briallant work ! please i have a question : where i can get the modules/plugins that are you using in your patch ? i've just downloaded VcV rack and my library still empty ....

Make a user profile and log in both on the official site and the program itself and you can download modules directly from the plugin library page from the official site by clicking on the either "free" option on the write side or the price tag of the ones that require buying and they will appear inside your program.

What kind of system do you use, CPU-wise? I loaded this patch and it brings my i7-4700 to its knees, even at 1024 samples in ASIO. Using Rack v0.5 if it makes any difference.

I compiled v0.4., including plugins, and it works fine. I'm going to do some CPU profiling and diffs and find out where the difference in performance is.

In my system, this patch is more stable in 0.5 than in 0.4. However, it's not lightweight, by any means, I need to run it at 1024 samples of buffer too. (i7 6700)

AGalanKh Thanks for the info. Still trying to pin down performance btw 0.5 and 0.4. Recompiling Eurorack 0.4 plugins to 0.5 (with API fixes) to see if there is a diff on new engine.

sounds autechrish :) , so u think this can sound good out of the computer ? similar to real modulars ?
@AGalanKh
@AGalanKh 7 жыл бұрын
this is the sound directly recorded from vcv, with no external processing (but a limiter). So yeah, I think VCV sounds good. Besides that, this patch was recorded before Vult Modules were out, and they're the best sounding oscillators and filters, I'm hooked on Vult.

Yeah! I'll upload the patch file in patchstorage.com/platform/vcv-rack/ as soon as I get home tomorrow. At this point, the patch is no longer the same as it was when I recorded the video, I've been "upgrading" it, but the idea behind it remains.

+AGalanKh, Cheers. Programming is well worth learning and there is plenty of stuff online to learn from. The code for VCV is very well written and developing new modules is much much easier than I expected so it's not a bad place to start learning either.

I've been trying to upload the patch in that page, but I keep getting an error message. I tried uploading the .json file but I wasn't allowed, so I compressed it, both as a .zip and as a .rar and I'm getting the same error. Any ideas?

Love it , similar to what I have been doing with vcv. It almost eleminates my need to buy or build a modular. The code is really clean and developing new modules for it is pretty simple, I've already made a stereo mixer based on the existing fundamental vcmixer.

I thought the same, this keeps me away from GAS, at least for now :D I would love to know how to code, at least to build my basic tool-modules

So impressed with the drum programming! How did you do it?
@AGalanKh
@AGalanKh 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! The drums are programmed with a combination of sequencers, probability gates and multiples-mixing. There are two "sources" for the gates: First, there are sequenced gates (using the fundamental SEQ3). But I guess you already knew that :D Second, the main clock goes to a Bernouilly Gate, which generates random gates. This way, I'm getting ALL the sequenced gates plus some random notes. These two sources are combined and sent together to another Bernouilly Gate, which I'm using to remove some of the hits, even those who were sequenced and not random. This method above can produce great results by itself, but in this patch I used one more "layer of complexity": I used another sequencer, that is running at 1/8 the rate of the main clock, and this is controlling the probabilities of each bernouilly gate, to get various drum fills and rolls that are synced with the tempo of the song. The hihats are driven with a different idea: The main clock is going to a delay: When the signal is dry, you get the normal 16th notes, but when the signal is wet, you get normal 16ths but delayed by a 32th approx. This way, i'm "multiplying" the clock, and getting double the hits. Then, the mix knob of the delay is controlled by a random S&H: When signal is mostly dry, you get static 16th notes, but when the wet signal is mixed in, you get hihat fills. I hope this is clear enough. However, I'll upload the patch ASAP, so you all can have a look.

Mate, thank you so much for this insight!!! You never learn enough and this is such an inspiring approach for a lively drum programming, I just learned a lot because of you and discovered another way to make use of this stuff. Thanks for taking your time to explain! Diving deeper now. Have a nice one mate, looking forward to your following output! Cheers and big up! Sadly the software is still quiet laggy (for my mac system atleast, hope they'll optimize soon) and the modular stuff I own in reality is quiet limited... Anyways, thanks again! :)

Very interesting. The concept of self modifying music is great. I always wonder if I crave the more identifiable rhythmic elements but I appreciate the ability to set up such a patch.
@AGalanKh

Thank you very much! I appreciate that you like it. If you're interested, the patch itself is not very difficult to understand: The main clock (in this case Tides) is going to the sequencers and to a Bernouilli Gate (Branches). The sequenced gates and the random ones are summed and, then, they go again into the Branches: The first step is to add random hits, the second step is to remove some of them, even the ones that were sequenced. There is another sequencer that runs at 1/8 the global time, and it controls the probabilities, to add drum fills and such. Almost all the drums are sequenced this way, but the hats: The main clock goes to a delay, and the delay time is (approx) half the master clock time. Then, the delay mix is controlled by a S&H. This way, you get a note every 16th, plus some random notes in between, simulating a hihat roll.
