Strauss... wurde scharf kritisiert, weil er versuchte, programmatische Musik auf der Grundlage von Nietzche nachzuahmen, und schuf schließlich dieses Meisterwerk, das die Entwicklung der Menschheit veranschaulicht, und schließlich... begleiteten wir schließlich den letzten Menschen vor seinem Aussterben, eine Katharsis für sich Dasselbe!!!

Strauss...harshly criticized for trying to emulate programmatic music based on Nietzche, ended up creating this masterpiece that indicates the evolution of the human race and finally...we ended up accompanying the last human being before his extinction, a catharsis in itself same!!!

No, if it was Copland (sic) he was referring to the 3rd symphony and it's generally accepted that the quote (like a cow looking over a gate) was by Constant Lambert.

Very good interpretation- conductor's take on it was on point. Pity the english horn player- she had four good bars to play in the whole symphony, all in the 3rd mvmt. But she was enjoyable to watch.
