(Alternate Title Suggestions): "Man dies of fear after visiting the Simsions ride at Universal Studios during Halloween Horror Nights". IMO this title would draw in more clicks and views. Good Video Btw.

I like your video, as a fan of the nerd any retrospective is appreciated, especially halloween themed and I like your critique of the individual episodes in relation to the film making style, but I do some constructive critism that I hope you don't take personally. The introduction was way too long. There was no need to talk about the quality of the show as least at that point. You could have incorporated that into the later specials with a different feel or "less quality productions" and it would be more natural. I don't know if this was the pad the video length but at 7 and half minutes explaining the story of the nerd was way too long. You said yourself that we know all this, so why is it included? A brief 2/3 minute history would be sufficient. I nearly switched off but instead chose to fast-forward through it all. In addition, you had a monotone recording voice, there was no feeling behind what you were saying. Apart from that though, it was enjoyable to watch.
@Professor-PrestonАй бұрын
Hey, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, so, was dragged into a vacation where I got given the flu just after fighting another illness for a month straight, so I was a little low on time to give the video a second pass. Definitely could've trimmed the explanation but was out of time. I think the reason I initially made it that way was I was anxious about leaving anyone out of the know and the text saying "you already know this" as a bandaid lol You're definitely right, though, and if I had more forethought, I could've trimmed it down. As for my monotone voice, I've been told it's funny and that people see my persona as a sleep deprived professor and that they liked that, so my updated model has tiredness lines added to the eye. I'm always shooting for something kind of subdued and pensive, I guess? But maybe being subdued and pensive at all times is too much lol Anyhow, I super appreciate the feedback! I typically try to keep catch-up segments short and will continue to outside of this one blunder, and I'll start considering when and how to emote more in these reads.
@Borninthe9tiesАй бұрын
@Professor-Preston no problem dude. Your monotone voice didn't turn me off at all I just thought I'd mention it. If that's what you're going for, then you've certainly achieved it, and as new viewer I didn't think about the correlation between voice and persona, it makes a lot of sense. Anwyay keep it up dude, you've gained a sub from me.

Honestly so underrated, you're analysing this single season of an anime that spans only 26 epsiodes at such a depth that even I, who has rewatched this show like a hundred times, am genuinely interested in these writing techniques you speak about that I had never noticed myself. PERFECT
@Professor-Preston9 ай бұрын
Hey, sorry it took me so long to respond! I really appreciate it! Hopefully one day I'll be evenly rated. I guess I should reiterate that I'm not a professor and don't actually know what I'm talking about. I'm not sure how much of my analysis of Joseph is rooted in Araki's actual intentions, and I was more just talking about why I personally find the character appealing, so perhaps take some salt with my analysis.

Interesting vid, but I take issue with your mention of "coding", I don't consider it a legitimate observation, but rather a sanitized form of stereotyping & I am critical of any writer that resorts to coding because they wanted to claim representation while leaving plausible deniability in other markets where it's less desirable, its use by such writers strikes me as cowardly, & I think those who actively seek it out only end up reinforcing prejudices by assuming that men with slight builds & colorful manners of dress must be gay.
@Professor-Preston9 ай бұрын
Sure, I think representation trumps coding, but sometimes coding might be the best someone can do (maybe, I'm not specifically educated on such matters). I think what I was trying to say was that it was good that Araki featured less typically masculine characters as it helps de-stigmatize feminine/androgynous men to some degree. Coding probably wasn't the word I was looking for here. I really appreciate the criticism, by the way. Part of why I make these videos is to get schooled as much as I school others lol

I don't know how they had the audacity to encourage students to not only do extracurricular activities but *also* get part time jobs to help pay for college when they also treated potentially hours of homework as the norm.

also im gonna play devils advocate and bring out an argument for homework. (not that i am not your opinion, but its important to think about too) : Homework taught me as a Child to do things and spent time with things i do not inherently have the Motivation or Excitement for, which is part of life.
@Professor-Preston Жыл бұрын
First, yeah, I've always had a sorta tired, melancholic side, and it's nice having an outlet for it! Second, I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts! I'm setting out to start conversations and get people thinking, so I'm actually really happy seeing counter points! I did briefly mention in the video that penalized homework may be necessary to motivate kids to try studying to begin with, but I feel like there could be alternatives. Even if homework does have that benefit, the volume definitely needs to be toned down. On the wikipedia page for homework, it says, "Younger students who spend more time on homework generally have slightly worse, or the same academic performance, as those who spend less time on homework." Sadly, the citation is pay walled, so I can't double-check the study at the moment, but I think this shows that even if homework is potentially beneficial, the way most schools are doing it is wrong.
@Pouchpotatoe Жыл бұрын
@@Professor-Preston Thank you so much for your answer! I think it is hard to argue about the amount of homework since it varies a lot per country, type of school etc but i do have to agree , that it tends to be too much. My teachers told me that i will miss school and nah bruh, i worked longer than i do now so i do agree on that :)
