Never was much of a spinnerbait Fishman, but I'm going to try these tips out next time I use one. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

You're spot on with these spinnerbait tips. I have been doing really well on spinnerbaits recently using the same tips.... Got a 6 pounder at Deep Creek Lake on a 1/2oz white spinnerbait a couple of weeks ago.

Absolutely! I think this is why guys don’t try it! I committed to wasting a whole day and learned what not to do. I interviewed top pros for technique and fully understanding what mats are for fish. Very few clients stuck with it. I never forced anyone to try it. I had a few book trips to learn it, but never would stick with it.

With conditions like that I would have picked up a spinnerbait over the chatterbait every time. Not that Chatterbaits don't work, they do.

In my experience, there are many versions. Double stamped, single stamped, and no stamped. There are double stamped Elite, and crystalglow, elites with red hooks, elite crystalglows with kahle hooks, non-crystalglows with red hooks, kahle hooks; etc. There was a one year (maybe two) version of a stamped elite series crystalglow with kahle hooks. The baby bass color of that series was the best bait on the tidal Potomac I ever had. Lost it a few years ago. I have half a dozen baby bass 1- of the other versions, but they aren't the same. This video is a great breakdown of what to look for if you're searching for the "good" ones. One of the greats is the chartreuse/black non-textured, non-stamped model. The old ones have the narrow nose that Capt Steve describes.

The nice thing about Suspend Dots, is you can do just that. But, the fatter body will prevent some of the roll that the original baits had.

Chartreuse with some other color is always a safe bet in off colored water. Nice that you pour your own, I like adding a wee bit of orange/brass color to my airbrushed baits when fishing off colored water. Maybe they were hungry? Liked action or speed of presentation? I personally like purple lol

Lipless baits are one of my favorite lures to throw. I am a big fan of Yo-Zuri. My only issue is I seem to loose a lot of fish with lipless lures and I can't figure out why. I also loose a lot of fish with Chatter baits.
@NationalBassFishingShow

The biggest thing to prove hook ups is using triple grip trebles. For most baits, use a short shank triple grip and go up a size. If they have #4 trebles, go to #2. This will give a better hook gap and hold better!
@NationalBassFishingShow
@NationalBassFishingShow 2 жыл бұрын
For the Chatterbaits, get a faster reel and use fluorocarbon. Fish usually are on the move when the eat these and catching up for a hook set and to keep them on, there’s a need for speed.

I still have - and fish - my original Baby 1-Minus...repainted a few times. I have caught hundreds of bass on it, newer models didn't come close ...nothing beats that original action. From largies/smallies in CT lakes and streams to Walden Pond MA smallies, to SoCal lakes and even urban inner-city Los Angeles ponds...nothing beats it! Now, just got a bass in Portugal on it where I've retired. I'd go in after this bait, but thankfully it's a shallow runner :). Q: I think I bought it in 1977, but I'm not sure ...does anyone know when it was introduced? Thanks!
@NationalBassFishingShow
@NationalBassFishingShow 2 жыл бұрын
I found my first baby 1-Minus when wading a river…floated by. I started throwing it on the Tidal Potomac and was crushing them! The new baits don’t come close. You can find some on line and at shows. Know what you are looking for…might not sound exactly the same as the pre-mid 90s versions…but they will work!
