Wonderful detail. Thank you! I bet in this day and age of 24 bit high resolution digital recording, the number of digital edits in any classical release would be prodigious. I reckon there would be hundreds of edits in a typical release these days, the majority of them for artistic purposes rather than for technical reasons.

Wonderful...and, we must seek for 'skeletons in DG's Closet', in the sense that M Glotz has 'ruined' many Karajan Recordings - the worst case is certainly Parsifal, and I wonder if actual analog tapes of the full recording were not actually made...

I absolutely love this series and thank U for caring about quality however what really puzzles me is why they sell for 39.99 $ in the US. equals 36.41 € and here in Berlin they sell for 54.99 € which Equals 60.39 $. How can they be cheaper in the USA considering the shipping prices. Anyone?

Got them both. Wonderful. I do love the One Point Blumline a little bit more because it brings me more of a Jazz Club Feeling. Thanks to all the musicians and technicians. I had a wonderful time hearing both records.

What a wonderful video -- so informative but never overly-technical. And it 's good to know all decisions were made to serve the music and the conductor's intent.

Super audio CD and Bluray audio or DVD audio are able to deliver the quadrophonic release i have a lot of japanese SACD edition that have some quadrophonic from Mile Davis or Carlos Santana that have the original Quad Mix that was made for those kind of LP. You should releases more of those Deutch Gramophone rarity on DTS or multichannel DSD .

Thank you for the excellent summary of your work, it was concise and informative and not a moment was boring. Can you verify what happened with the Karajan records from the 1970s, many of them had EQ applied to the treble and on a high quality stereo today they sound very bright and are not playable. Was this EQ mixed onto the master tape or applied post recording. It would be good to know if the records you are producing today have a flat EQ.

Has the DG tape archive had any problems with magnetic tape degradation and so called "sticky tape syndrome" where, over time, adverse chemical reactions have taken place? Or have the archives been fortunate in using tape formats which have not particularly suffered over time?
