as nice as the NSX my bias is towards the MR2 because my first car was 1986 MR2. plus i rather own I car I can drive without having to worry about the cost of repairing it later on. MR2 is lighter and can easily be modified to surpass a NSX and not cost a fortune.

MR2 weights you quoted are quite light... Unusually light. There are OEM examples at 3,0XX lbs.

I just watched all your videos regarding the MC8 and its very interesting and cool AF. I hear all the passion you have for the car bro. Two questions 1: Would you ever try building a replica/tribute MC8 for yourself. 2: Do you know what trans axle gearbox they used with the 1uz v8 as shown on the underside of the MC8 in your first video.

So why didn't they just go ahead and mass-produce this car? Why does Nissan have to scrap every car that was DECENT??? 🙄

The big difference between the 2nd gen MR2 and NSX for me is: the MR2 was a fun, beginners car where I would leave extra bolts out, not use a torque wrench, strip some bolts, 2 car accidents, and procrastinating on the maintenance… and it still runs like a champ over the 2 decades of ownership, whereas anything listed above were to happen to an NSX… But in defense to the NSX: rarer, a technological marvel, a historic automobile for the books, unprecedented break throughs for a production car (aluminum chassis/body panels, titanium connecting rods/forged pistons, VTEC, etc.), inspired the looks for the McLaren F1, marga hills, but the best part of all: body was sculpted after some swimsuit model.

The last time I brought my MR2 to a car meet was in 2018, prior to that the last time I had it on display was in 2011. I had my engine lid propped up, displaying my 3S-GTE that I dumped thousands into, and was expecting curious car enthusiasts to ask genuine questions that I am more than happy to answer. Instead, I was greeted by two mid teens that probably didn’t have their driver’s license, peeked into the engine bay, and scoffed “what, this doesn’t have a KA swap?” They thumbed their noses at it and walked away like it was worthless. It was the first time I have ever heard of a K swap and went online to find out these new “car enthusiasts” just regurgitate whatever they see on KZbin, automotive scholars apparently. To this day, my S-DUB has never been back to another car meet as I am sure many more of these scholars have graduated youtube university.

If even the drift king gets snap oversteer, the problem is the car, not the driver. "If a monkey falls from a tree, it's likely due to a broken branch". The MR2 is dangerous. Don't understate it. It's much better than most other cars when it comes to handling, but that comes at a cost. The late gen SW20s have less of an issue with the snap oversteer, and the ZZW30s apparently got rid of it completely (at least in OEM form)

I have the NA2 NSX. Mine with a few comptech goodies, headers, exhaust and light weight fly wheel I'm putting out 320 hp just confirmed off the dyno. I looked at the MR2 even test drove it. But the worth of a car is more than its 0-60, or 1/4 mile number. There is no comparison between the two cars other than the MR2 is a bargain.

Not watched much but on the topic of pricing. JDM is slowly turning less and less into about what the car can do, least near where I live a AE86 has such a bad amount of "Anime/Movie-TAX" to where I could buy a RX7 or maybe even a high mileage Supra, and still have enough to buy a good condition mid-range mileage Miata for a daily car

A note about MR2 Turbo weight, four years late: most USDM cars weigh easily over 2,800 lbs and possibly more like 2,850. The 2,755 lb figure shown here may have come from findings of my own car that I published multiple places years ago. It was a 1993 hardtop Turbo that weighed exactly 2,755 on SCCA scales at the end of Solo Nationals competition runs in Stock class -- with very little fuel left in the tank, a straight-pipe catback exhaust that eliminated the muffler for weight savings, and the lightest stock-sized wheels available (at about 9 lbs each). This was probably at least 50 lbs in weight savings through methods that were allowed in Stock class autocross. In addition, almost all 93-95 USDM Turbo cars came with T-tops which added perhaps 30 lbs of weight (don't quote me on this one) over the hardtop model. Essentially, 2,755 lbs is not really an accurate figure for these cars "off the showroom floor." Regardless, they're still great little cars and at the time this video was published, superb value for a fun mid engined car.

It's so interesting, isn't it? Originally, part of the appeal was their affordability. But with fewer and fewer surviving cars and a driving experience that is increasingly unique as time goes on, the increased cost may be justified. Good luck!

Isn't the RX-Vision an electric car with a range extender? Everything special about driving a rotary car seems like it goes out the window when it's a range extender. Maybe I'm wrong but I heard something about Mazda using rotaries as range extenders so I assume that's all this is.

Hi. So, I do research obscure race cars from Japan. I watched your videos about the MC8/MC8R and wanted to search more about it. And today, completely by accident, I discovered something truely rare. Now I'm not sure wheater or not I will expect an answer from you, but long story short..... I found a second road legal MC8. Yep. If you want more info, I have discord. Will send it to you if you answer.
Amber Corners keeping history alive. Thanks for these MC8 video. Keep up the vintage finds! Love from Antigua in the Caribbean 🇦🇬

I had a AW11's for well over a decade - eventually modifying a 4AGZE engine and running a GT28R Turbo - it was an proper weapon on the road! The snap steer isn't really true, the MR2 handles like a dream - so much so that it allows you to get right up to the line of losing control - push it past that point, and then you're in for a bad time! I've fish-tailed down the road a couple of times, spun out many times too, but by god is it a great fun platform to drive!
