Biggest blues I've seen in ages. I first crabbed in Maryland where ANY female crab was NOT a keeper. So, no matter where I crab, I always toss back any female blue crabs I catch. Unexpected rules are why I always have the latest rulebook. Texas is not a state that forbids all females from being kept. The internet is full of people that think they know everything, but really don't, that will be rude at best. I love eating crabs but have only crabbed on the East Coast. I live in North Texas but now have a huge desire to visit the Texas Coast. Loved your video, Thanks for sharing.

Just saw this on my tv app feed recently. Wonder why the largest crab and some others appear to be dead when shown on the shoreline. Many authoritative sources state that you risk serious illness cooking crabs that are dead unless you euthanized them just prior to cooking.

Anahuac Wildlife Refuge. It doesn’t cost anything. There are lots of places to crab all through the Refuge. Once you get there drive along the path and you’ll see people fishing and crabbing there. We drove to the boat ramp. I am sorry I don’t know how to tell you exactly, but if you get to Refuge there is an information center they will be able to show you or give you a map of the Refuge so you can go to the boat ramp. Just be careful when you are crabbing there for alligators. Because that is their natural habitat. Good luck and have fun.

It’s illegal to fish at a wildlife refuge.. did you know that?… so what y’all did is illegal
@viettexan8500
@viettexan8500 7 ай бұрын
There are park rangers and game wardens there. We are not the only ones fishing there thank you for your concern. If it was illegal we would have been cited. Sometimes they check our catch to see if they are ok to keep. It’s all legal. Please check before you go on a rant on someone and accuse someone of wrong doing when you clearly have no idea🤷‍♂️. We have been going there for decades. Anahuac Wildlife Refuge and Fort Anahuac. People have been fishing and crabbing legally ever since it was opened. There’s a difference in being caring and ignorant. I think you know which one you belong to.

The Anahuac Wildlife Refuge has been open to public fishing since its inception in 1963, it even allows hunting as its PUBLIC land. A quick google search would have told you this.

If that crab is dead before cooking, don't eat it.. It looks like the ones we find at the waters edge late in the season..all dead...lol Your crab isn't the record. Blue crabs are measured shell point tip to tip. Your crab looks 8.5 - 9.5 in. That's a typical jumbo crab here in Maryland... I hope you all don't get sick eating those dead crabs..🥴
