Great presentation on the relationship between RBD/REM & PD🥊

It took years of anxiety and panic to recognize that anxiety is wiped out when my next dose of PD meds kick in. The anxiety increasingly makes work difficult and creates a feedback loop of avoidance of work and coworker interaction as well as non-work activities (trips, visits with family and friends.

My mother died from PSP complications in 2021 as confirmed by a brain autopsy conducted at Yale Medical. She developed first symptoms approximately 8 years before she passed and was misdiagnosed first with MS, then with Parkinson’s then with CBGD. A doctor at the Hospital for Special Care movement disorder center in Newington, CT correctly diagnosed her two weeks before she passed when he gave her the “clap test” and she exhibited a positive applause sign. By then it was too late as she was in the final phases of this awful disease. My mom and I both hope the donation of her brain to Yale will help others.

Absolutely love Susan! So much has happened in the past year. We work hard and play harder while we share our stories and make each other feel seen and heard. Susan has helped me see what I couldn't have seen on my own. Robert me believe that my hopes, wishes and dreams still matter. This course is a real intervention process that improved my quality of life. Psychosocial is much more than a heavy metal song by a band called Slipknot. It is a term that leads to a confounding mindset that eats away at your mentality. Wane said it plaine also. He can laugh and we do. Bringing joy to our group every time he joins Jam for Joy. Gotta love all these people. We laugh, we cry and we connect more than any of us would have thought possible in an online course. Venicia has taken our stories to another level with her Parkinson's prison website.

Yes, and I love B J's story. I read that story before he read it here. Within this space over the past year I started calling him Big brother Ben. Someone who is a walking talking inspiration with his activism along with his big heart. Perry, is also my dear friend. I am overwhelmed with gratitude his friendship lead me to this wonderful bunch of people. They all helped to break me free by lighting my way to a brand new world. Re awakening dormant emotions that were killing me from the inside out.

All of our stories matter. Telling our stories is a way we can all make a difference! One year later we are that much closer to making a difference. Our new Cinema Therapy battle cry I quote Sherpa guy. "Get busy writing or get busy dying." The world needs our whole story. Say it loud and say it proud. We want a cure and we want it now. Love Doris and her story.

Thank you for this amazing video. Really informative. My mum is diagnosed by FTD and PSP at the same time. It makes it really hard to for her. She is unable to speak even a word she can’t walk and zero balance. If there is pain or there is a need like being hungry she is unable to say. We really struggle to find out if she is having pain. Levodopa is not helping much as higher doses than 1/4 makes her really uncomfortable and agitated. Is this common to have PSP and FTD at the same time ? I quit my job a year ago only to ensure she is well taken care of. It is highly appreciated if you could tell of the chances one can heal

Thank you for this. I have parkinsons with dystonia in my left foot. Would that be defined as primary dystonia? I have had reflexive sympathetic dystrophy in my left knee in my 20s, but which did not affect my foot. I am now 60 years old.

What is the evidenced based PSP treatment plan?
@tiffmacf38162 ай бұрын
Just a few comments on the information here: You can actually enroll in Part D if you have only Part A. If you are on an employer plan, it Is important to determine if your employer plan is creditable or non-creditable for Part D. This indicates whether the employer plan expected to pay as much or more as a Part D plan. If it is non-creditable, then you will still be subject to the Part D late enrollment penalty when you do enroll in Part D. (This detail does not apply for Part B.)

So suspected PK without expected response to CL. We tried the myobi and it actually made her worse. She actually responded once to a cueing from a guitar tuner with a beat maker/ vibration one day at which time she had remarkable temporary gait. her > sxs is freezing of gait. Since then I have not been able to reproduce this. Often wonder if the CUE1 avaILavailable in the UK could benefit PSP? or even Dr peter Tass Gloves?.

Thank you very much Dr. Shprecher. Your analysis of difficult diagnosis is very clear. A very challenging clinical diagnosis. Is is common in Atypical Parkinson's to have a tremor on one side with bradykinesia present on the contralateral side?

Our Movement Disorder Specialist seems to have lost interest in treating my husband as he has progressed into an advanced stage. He isn’t interested in trying to make him more comfortable, any therapy, trying to adjust meds. Our doctor just suggests there’s not much that can be done, refers us to palliative care, which was only interested in us filling out forms to not resuscitate or intubate. He has ended up hospitalized twice in two years for an extended period which was terrible. Hospital standards whether you’re a Parkinson’s patient or not , can give a Rx dosage one hour early or one hour late, which is horrible for a PD patient. My husband each time came in to ER as he went into a decline where he was deteriorating in his ability to walk, and having new onset of psychosis. The only help we got from our Movement Disorder Specialist, was to increase Sinemet intervals and introduce, then increase the antipsychotic Seroquel (Quetiapine), which is an antidopamine. Everything just got worse, no troubleshooting, just told this is late stage and there’s palliative care, which seriously turned out to be a bridge to hospice. Very disappointing. I wish there were more Movement Disorder Specialists available. They are in short supply, so it’s hard to even get in for an appointment, and since the pandemic, they really prefer video appointments which don’t feel adequate for evaluation. Sorry, had to rant. It’s so depressing as a caregiver. 😢

Well. Guess my part D insurance will dramatically increase! Only $7 per month now. Monthly scripts cost $0 at the pharmacy. HWP’s is pretty cheap too and monthly meds are low costs at the pharmacy. Wonder how much of a shock it will be?

Good try by this doctor but I think he’s way off the mark. I sense it’s much more to do with the fact that our mitochondrial function is severely compromised. These are the generators of energy and if they can’t rid themselves of waste then they can’t generate energy. Fasting is probably the solution as well as exercise.
