Great Shohei, despite the disappointment. It brings about another question-- why is that card just sitting at Topps and why wasn't it in circulation? If it was a redemption itself, it wouldn't be expired yet since the card is from last year. So many questions about that kind of stuff.

This set got me into Heritage. The actual 1972 Topps set was one of my personal favorites because it was designed to get kids interested in baseball cards with football becoming more popular. I am actually waiting for a Target die cut card in the mail to finish my master set of 2021 Heritage.

I hate to hear that Dustin. Is that a Topps problem or a Mike trout issue. If his has the cards and just won’t sign them that’s just wrong. He’s been injured a lot the past four years so he has time at home as he’s rehabilitating to sign the cards. Sorry buddy.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Topps redemption. I've sent 16 redemptions into Topps, and 5 of them they replaced with another card, and 1 they haven't got in touch with me on it. Its been 3 years on that one. I tried to redeem it online and it said it was an invalid code and they had me send it to them. One of them they sent me a Manny Machado Bowman prospect auto in exchange for a Ryu auto. The very next day after receiving it in the mail, I got an email from Topps telling to send it back and they would give me the Ryu auto. I told them no. But most of the time the card they sent me was some retired player who never panned out. I sell them back to my card store because I will not deal with it. If its a $500 card value, I'll take the hit from my shop so long as I dont have to deal with Topps any more. I used to buy from their store online but they had my credit card number stolen from them. It took them 6 months to tell me about it but my card company had already told me 6 months earlier. I quit buying Topps cards 3 years ago. I watch others throw their money away instead.

What I started doing a while ago…. I figured out what I was spending a month on wax, which was not a lot. I then started putting that money aside each month to just buy singles I want and it’s been amazing.

Makes no sense why they couldn’t give you your card. Trout signs so much for them. No doubt it would’ve been a different story if you were a big influencer with some connections. This is why redemptions are bad. They can come up with any excuse to not fulfill it.

Topps should be ashamed honestly. The likely reality is that some employee probably has it in their collection (or it never existed which I’m not getting in to in just a comments section). I hope you enjoy the card even with the disappointment. Topps knows they can beat down most collectors and they don’t have the desire or means to get a lawyer to sue them mostly over principle

Admire your honesty…cards are a luxury no matter how you slice it. Can’t take them with you. I think a lot of people go into debt to afford these things. Always enjoy your channel…much respect!!

Awesome card. But total BS on topps behalf. That was the icing on the cake. Totally agree with you its not worth it. I only buy my PC players singles and he's a common so it's some what affordable. Still have sellers with covid pricing 🤦‍♂️

The box value/return vs cost has gone down drastically over the past 2 years. Before it was just a little price increase but now boxes are watered down in the big sports, especially with anything Fanatics runs from hobby to retail. I have bought probably 80% less baseball boxes this year because of that. The falloff is real. Keep ripping, just pick your spots and can't wait to see your next rip whenever it is. I always enjoy your real takes on the sets!

Jeez, Topps should be ashamed of themselves, where is the card that was due to you four years ago? That really sux for a company of that magnitude to do such petty things. I started collecting around the age of 10, and it's gotten to the point that I can't afford even a blaster box from Walmart. This is a sad situation and I am sure that there are plenty others in your shoes,waiting years for something that they will never receive. I would really love to know where all of these redemptions are..,,

i remember buying that set and seeing you pull that Trout 1/1 and always checked in to your channel periodically to see if you got it, I know it's not the same value but that Ohtani is sweet

Sucks about the Trout card. Your Ohtani likely just went up on value today. Yeah I completely agree with you about Topps pricing us out of the hobby. The only hobby I've opened this year is Pro Debut. It's just not worth it anymore.
