What is the purpose for putting compost and topsoil on top of cardboard?

Cardboard is a good weed barrier until it biodegrades after a few months. Helps kill of most weeds that are rooted in and gives plants you want a chance to establish themselves.

I like that copper bowl and brass tap. Good layout too. I'd be cautious about the load weight though in a Vito. You have a solid wooden ceiling, heavier MDF cabinets, ceramic tiles, water, gas cylinder, porta potti before you add in as much as a mug & tea bag ! Best of luck with your new adventures!

I would drop a strong magnet in the door insulation near the lock so that it sticks to the bodywork when you open it. 👍

So now you need to hold up lid while removing cassette. If lid drop down instead of up would be easier.

While I was living full time in the van I had a National gym membership here in the U.K. so where ever I was there was usually a gym nearby.

Just wondered if all the recycled pallet wood you got was all the same width or did you plane it to the same width of the other pieces ?

Hey! It was all relatively the same thickness, within a few mm. The length and width varied. I used a planer to take off some of the roughness but didn't bother to sand it down any more than that, it's a fairly rustic finish. If I were to do it again I would use regular cladding though, this pallet wood is far to heavy in comparison and weight counts for a lot when you have a maximum vehicle weight allowance.

Not that I’ve noticed. It’s a heavy bed but it’s probably only a 10th of the weight added to the van and most of the other weight is near the floor
