Because its occurrence is calculated based on when Jupiter completes one round around the sun which takes around 12 years and the sun ,earth n Jupiter are aligned in a particular way...that's the way how mahakumbh occurs every 12 years Normal kumbh mela occurs every 3 years Ardh kumbh mela occurs every 6 years N mahakumbh occurs every 12 years But this years maha kumbh completes the cycle of 12 maha kumbhs ( 12 years X 12 maha kumbh ) of 144 years, hence this one is a very special Maha Kumbh

Not to mention wars, purely created so that arms manufacturers can supply both sides and get rich..the list is endless. But somehow environmental concerns awake only around Hinduism and non vegetarians and halal eaters talk about loving animals.

I went to the 2013 Maha Kumbh Mela and my heart is still wide open. It is an amazing event and a absolute must go and experience this Indian spiritual and culture gathering. Om Namo Shivaya..
