Growing up in the late 90s/early00s the 240 and 90s rx7 were my two fav cars ….. as a adult ended up getting a c5 coupe to mod as weekend car! I call it America’s answer to the jdm legends. It has all the best stuff you loved from the jdm cars…. But with the engine they want for half their cars lol

I daily drive a C5 Z06 that’s modded with 600 HP 402 CI LS2. Built tranny and built rear end. The car gets 18 to 21 mpg and is a street killer.

68 year old 'boomer' here. Had to laugh at your boomer comments. I am looking to buy a C5 and most of my driving will be 'old man' style but sometimes ... .just sometimes ... I'll let the car do what it wants to do. I have driven a variety of very fast cars and motorcycles in my lifetime and a high performance car is just a LOT of fun.

Btw, child. If it weren't for us "baby boomers" who didn't constantly redline or trash these cars, you'd be in the poor house constantly fixing a busted up Mustang or Audi. For your info, "flooring it" or more specifically, redlining (6500 rpm) is not "good" for the engine or the torque tube's driveshaft couplers or anything else on the car for that matter. It was designed to be able to handle high speeds and loads but this is no way "good" for it. The more you beat on it, especially needlessly with high revs, the sooner it will need to be dismantled and overhauled. And that's coming from a "baby boomer" ENGINEER - you know, the kind of PROFESSIONAL who actually designs such things. Stick to your day job (probably flipping burgers) son. You know nothing about cars, automotive engineering, or anything related to science and fact. The fact that you put coil overs on a C5 pretty much says everything - FOOL.

Another moron discovering C5s.....ugh...Please stop announcing to the world your "eureka moments". Intelligent people figured this out more than a decade ago and now with every KZbin video posted, more and more douchebags buy them and trash them - because that's all they're capable of - they find something nice and do their level best to destroy it. Most intelligent, responsible people, when they find something that was done right with a lot of hard work and forethought going into the design, respect that and do their part to preserve it while using it - maybe even pass it on to a son or daughter or another member of the next generation. They don't dismantle it and screw it up with stupid mods that make it fall apart or perform worse than originally configured. They don't beat on it senselessly on a daily basis. If redlining the motor and doing donuts is your thing - stick to poorly made/engineered Mustangs or overpriced garbage that constantly falls apart - like a BMW, Porsche, or Audi. There are a limited number of C5s rolling around that haven't been abused, neglected, or outright destroyed by douchebags. Please leave them alone and find some other piece of trash to play with.

Great video. My son chose a 99 C5 in 2017 after considering several other options. Unfortunately in 2018 he was no longer able to drive. I always wanted to track a car. I’m a “boomer” Since 2018 I invested $70k in modes and track the car every race seasons here in SLC at Utah Motorsports camp in NASA events. Yes this car is extremely capable. I’ve worked my way up to HPDE4 and now compete with Audi R8’s and C8 and the car preforms outstanding! Yes I drive this car hard.

Sorry but the base model isn’t the same as a Z06 with small differences! They are way different, especially a base car with the auto and tall geared rear end!
@DealAlex9 ай бұрын
They definitely do have differences but if you plan on modifying/building the car anyway I would recommend saving the money and getting a base model unless you are really set on a z06

Lol! I’m a boomer, I have a black 2003 Z06 and I’m lucky that I haven’t been arrested or gotten a ticket yet! I’m definitely on the throttle any time I’m not cruising on the freeway. Good video!
