I've looked for videos about Blade on youtube before, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to find this one!! I knew when this video opened up on how hard it is to talk about why you love the things you love most, this was exactly the kind of video I wanted to watch. Blade is my favorite Kamen Rider by far, the one I think of constantly since I first watched it in late 2021. I agree so much about what this video said, about how even though the later part of Blade is much better, I wouldn't call the first 30 episodes bad. Less cohesive, less grabbing of your heart and attention, sure, but still a solidly good time. I also thought the analysis on Mutsuki was interesting, as someone who likes him as a character but thought his arc needed to be like 10 episodes shorter. Next time I rewatch Blade, I'll definitely think about what was said here and see how much my opinions change Also this is so correct, Kenzaki and Hajime are very gay

Technically, kenzaki just has a ridiculous fusion rate that doesn't get explained, that’s why he fuses with the 13 spade undead in his king form. Garren and Leangle got their king forms by simply fusing with their respective category king undead.

Asakura is hands down my favourite rider in this series. The guy is an absolute chad and it kinda feels like he got robbed at the end when other riders powered up.

My fav kamen rider ever

I've been watching modern kamen rider shows. I can only say, Blade is the other kamen rider show after Kuuga with good writing. Do I like Blade? No. Blade failed where it is important to be a tokusatsu, it had boring fight scenes. Yes, all those cool poses you have for your vids, that's there when a new move is introduced or a monster is about to be defeated. But before you get there, the fights are a snore fest. I also like Blade for being more like the older kamen rider shows, they play with the classical themes, interesting locations to shoot the fight scenes. I like the ending, too. I don't like modern kamen riders because they all feel pretentious or trying too hard to be more than what a kamen rider is really about. Blade managed to introduce & end all plot lines properly, even manage to come up with a good & emotional ending to the show. Blade dared & won. Blade pulled the trump card & walked home with the prize money. Not the big jackpot, but a prize money. I am not aware of the memes, but being an Asian in Asia, I can see why the memes exist. The show is just not fun to watch. It's not bad, it's just not fun. Just look at this 59 min. Are all of the points solid? Yes. But is Blade a fun show? No. Why? Boring fight scenes. There are other good kamen rider shows out there. Kuuga is serious, slow crime drama with solid writing. W which comes much after Blade is comedic but also serious, good writing there too, highly entertaining to watch.

I think it takes away from camaraderie between men to call it "gay" or "bromance". Brotherhood is something different, and uniquely binding. But yeah that ring shit is super gay.

In the show and the 2002 movies the suits look great, but outside that the suits are bit week, just look at Knight's suit in the zio special, that thing is very fat...but anyway, i love Ryuki, im glad that I came to the world at the same year as Ryuki

There is one other ending that I remember…and that’s an SIC story for Survive Ryuga, which also included a (imo) very interesting take on Ryuga.

Here after finishing Ryuki completely, including what exists in English of the novel! That book is like if Inoue tried doing to Episode Final what Episode Final did to the last 5 episodes of Ryuki. A bunch of the scenes between Shinji and Miho are repeated, the Mirror World is completely different again, and there's... some pretty graphic stuff in there. Pure Inoue. :(

My favorite Kamen rider show ever, not sure if true but I heard that Gen Urobuchi is a huge fan of Ryuki (which... makes sense if you watch Madoka and Gaim). Quite frankly, I dont think there is a Tokusatsu show with so many memorable characters IMO

The best ending will be: 1. Whenever a rider manages to kill another rider, they can claim their deck as a power up. 2. Raia use the wind survive card to kill ouja first before giving to knight. 3. Mugen survive card to be given to ouja, leaving only odin, knight, ryuki and ouja in the final war. Knight and ryuki killing both ouja and odin. Then finally they have a 1 on 1 battle by crashing with their survive mode final vent and ryuki reviving everyone back and ending the rider war.

i was thinking quite a while ago that why do Shirou need riders to fight, and finally fight him... if his only goal is to keep Yui from Disappearing... 1. Shirou can just win the Rider Battle and grand himself the wish to keep Yui. BUT: This might not be the case. Shirou is obviously stronger than all the riders, and can obliterate everyone in battle BUT he keeps on pushing everyone to win, WHY? THEORY: Maybe (I don't know if this is answered yet as far as i watched is only the complete series EP1-50, and 3 EPs of Rider Time Ryuki, i'm not sure yet if anything outside these will instantly debunk my theory), Now back to the theory: "Kanzaki Shirou can never win the Rider Battle", he can only lose by the hands of the last Rider and grant the wish, then as the series went, he keeps on resetting everything while trying to change Yui's final decision by the end, and it seems that Yui always refused. My argument to this theory is if Shirou can wish it himself, he would not need to wait for the final Rider out of the eliminated 11 to fight him, he would just swoop and kill them all immediately and wish for Yui. Yui would accept it in return because she would not need to establish any relationship with any other riders that makes her decline the life she gets after the battles. 2. "The Great Complication" Shirou needed these things, and if not all of these are met the whole period of the Rider Battle gets reset. - A Rider that will wish for Yui to stay alive in the real world. - Yui accepting the new life. This then implies that, Shirou cannot just wish Yui's life to continue, someone has to wish it for him and that is why he doesn't keep Yui away from Ren and Shinji or other Riders, because in order for that to happen, one Rider must form bond with Yui.

There is something thar Shinta Reviews seemed to say on the villains change. I haven't found any sources or asked him why but I he seemed to indicate thar Bachaus was originally going to be the villain throughout the show until Toei ordered the villain change. I have yet to ask where he got that from.

This is the first long form analysis I've listened to as a toku fan. normally this kinda stuff makes me cringe, but I can appreciate the sentiment that went into this, and I echo many of the ideas you put forward here. Interestingly, I always found blade to be a bit average because despite having a great start and great end, the long mutsuki bit in the middle grated me as someone who didnt like mutsuki. So hearing you talk about mostly the same things with the addition of enjoying the mutsuki bits fills in the puzzle a lot for me as to why people like the show much more than I do. Thanks for the perspective, I hope to listen to more of your work.
