What size bike is that an XR?please let me know as I want to do somthing similar in mexico.🙏 also do you know about how many miles a day you rode? I have the new xr190l and I don't have alot of confidence in it. I hope I'm wrong as I'm going to mazatlan end of April
@kevinphan2 жыл бұрын
The XR190 should be good I would not worry about the bike as long as it’s been maintained well. We rode an XR150! From town to town it wasn’t too far maybe a 200km a day. The bike had enough power for two and our bags

im from the Philippines , im planing to ride around 1000km. that might take 3 days stright. question dear sir is how does the bike handle? any issues? should i bring a spare chain spark plug ? any tips for long rides on the honda xr150?
@kevinphan4 жыл бұрын
I had absolutely no issues other than the horn button stopped working which I got fixed at a local shop for a few dollars because it is super necessary. I only brought spare tubes with me which I did not need. The XR150 is very reliable depending on where you are getting it from. Bike handles very well for the roads in vietnam. I highly recommend it over the mopeds and scooters. There are a lot of local bike mechanics that if you should run into any issue they can help.

I would not worry about getting robbed so much. I had $1,000 USD in vietnamese currency. I carried this under my shirt with a "hidden" fanny pack/waist belt. I used a lot of ATMs along the way. My bank didnt charge me any fees as long as I used an ATM with the same merchants.

Did tigit supply you with all the straps, tank bag if you want, helmet, gloves etc? or did you just bring/buy them. Also, any changes to the route you took that you'd recommend? thanks!
@kevinphan4 жыл бұрын
Rolling Tones they didn’t have straps when we rented our bike but we stopped at Ben Thanh market and grabbed supplies we needed including bungee cords/straps. We bought helmets from Tigit and they were around $20 for a cheap one and upwards. I’d spend a little extra because it is your head after all. I definitely recommend riding up DT725 I believe is the route and then we headed towards the coast where the views were incredible. I definitely recommend a handle bar bag that holds your phone where you can read the GPS if you are going to use it. Just remember to cover your phone from the sun because it’ll overheat quickly I found out.

Any issues driving without a intl license? Thanks, Also, what was the rough cost of everything? Buy & sell the bike, or like rent from tigit or anything? Thanks alot just planning a similar trip
@kevinphan5 жыл бұрын
Derek M no issues without international license. Stay away for the mui ne sand dunes because of the cops looking for bikers without a license. We rented from Tigit and it was around $400 for the 20-23 days we had it for. I highly recommend getting the XR or something similar because it will handle the road conditions a lot better. I see guys doing it with a Honda Win, which I don’t recommend. They are ok for city riding but for the cross country trip you are better off with something like the XR. We spent maybe another $80 on fuel. Stayed at hotels or lodges that ranged from $12-50 a night. Hope that helps!!
