Yes, captured CO2 can be "eliminated" by storing it underground in geological formations, essentially removing it from the atmosphere through a process called "carbon capture and storage (CCS)" where the captured CO2 is injected deep underground where it becomes trapped and mineralizes, effectively removing it from circulation in the atmosphere; this method is often referred to as "direct air capture" when the CO2 is pulled directly from the air using specialized technology.

The amount of resources, materials, and co2 produced in order to produce this device are exponentially greater than the co2 it could feasibly capture in many lifetimes.

Why can't we have a small carbon capture device on every car that is powered by the engine and it could capture at least twice as much as the car emits?🤔

Awesome work thanks for the shout out! I think the design you have going looks pretty solid. And I'm super appreciative of the fact you took up the torch, tested the idea, and found that it does actually work. Now the hard parts; it is a trace amount of carbon, but since you are using purified potassium hydroxide, by tracking the pH and through chemical testing it can be shown how much potassium carbonate was created, so we can get an idea of productivity. The tricky part, which I need to research further, is tracing the sources and tracing the process. For example, we need to know HOW that potassium hydroxide was created...of it can be done using saltwater and solar panels? Minerals mined? Trees chopped down and burned? We need to know so that the device isn't supporting an industry that hurts the environment specifically to create the product. That being said, if we can find potassium hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide as byproduct of an other industry, then it really starts to become viable. The unit would always need to be powered by natural energy (solar, wind, hydroelectric, etc) because otherwise we are adding more petrol to the atmosphere just to take a little bit out. If the final product, which is a carbonate salt, can then be sold or otherwise used for something, perhaps a construction material, chalky product or plaster like product, or perhaps as a soil additive or fertilizer, then you've got a product to sell. One idea that strikes me is to use the waste water, once the pH has been reduced to what plant roots can tolerate, that nutrient and carbon rich water can then be used to grow food via hydroponics, although the plants or algae would have to be alkaline tolerant. The challenges are many, but I'm glad to see your good work!

cool science video, nice engineering - carbon capture has the lowest return on investment of any green technology and in certain situations can even result in a net CO2 increase - you should work on reducing the energy required to operate the machine to make it more viable. And you could probably figure out a way to grow trees in more places applying yourself like this lol!

Hi. I see you are using this to precipitate carbon. Do you have a suggestion for a yield of CO2? We are not satisfied with our current supply of CO2 for making soda. The supplier always short shrifts us. We are in a small market, so buying huge machinery is out of the question. We need about 30lbs of CO2 per week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You got to get this to market. Look to see if you can find a manufacturer to make different sizes. Those of us in blue states are being hounded by governors that want to ban all our appliances & fuels we use. So any invention that is designed to mitigate stuff in the enviro. I am sending a link up to my state senator.

What if you used a fogger system instead of a sprayer less water used and you could set it to a higher humidity and try using a micro pore membrane to pass the clean air system then reverse osmosis to re use... great idea and work
