I work at Macy's and it is horrible. Training is horrible. Management is horrible. They will ignore your availability and will schedule with hours and days that you cannot do. And when you call out when you encounter situations that are out of your control (flat tire, sickness, accidents), they will consider that an "unexcused absence" and it will affect your reliability meter. I'm gonna quit this bs job.

Macy's policies basically are wanting people to shoplift from them. It makes zero sense. They care about being woke and PC more than actually stopping shoplifters. Also it's all politics and if someone doesn't like you they will talk behind your back and the manager will wait for an excuse to fire you. Macy's AP is still retail and not going to be the exciting loss prevention, arrest shoplifters type of job.

Fun Fact: J. Alexander Kueng, one of the police officers behind the George Floyd incident, is a former Macy's asset protection detective. He broke arms, bloodied people's noses, and unlawfully imprisoned shoplifters and customers multiple times during each shift, and not once was he punished for it. But as soon as he joined the Minneapolis PD and decided to subdue an unruly suspect causing a disturbance outside of a convenience store, he faced criminal charges for doing so. Police officers actually have less rights than loss prevention. That's why no one tracks asset protection detective down and protests outside of their home whenever they use excessive force; only the POLICE have to deal with that. That's why Loveland PD officer Austin Hopp went to prison for restraining a shoplifter, but Macy's employees face no consequences for breaking elderly women's arms. The only reason law enforcement was even created was to serve the bail insurance companies and retail chains. That's why they let bountyhunters and store asset protection violate your rights and physically harm you.

If Macy's thinks that they have the right to use physical violence on shoplifters, you have the right to use physical violence on them back. People need to start restraining these loss prevention employees. They should be AFRAID of ever laying hands on someone else ever again. If the entire store taught LP a lesson for getting physical, what's the police going to do? Arrest the entire store for "aiding and abetting"? Honestly, the police only exist to serve big business. The police could easily arrest them for assault/battery if they wanted to like they arrested the two homeowners in georgia who detained Ahmaud Arbery for burglary and trespassing.

@@morris4morris Triggered because she pointed out a fact? FACT: You work loss prevention because you couldn't make it through police Academy FACT: The only reason police arrest people for defending themselves against AP is because they get kickbacks from retailers. Store loss prevention doesn't even require a guard card, so it's basically security work for people who couldn't pass the background check for a basic guard card. You should be ashamed at yourself. I go around stores spitting in the faces of people like you, daring you to make a move. But funnily enough, when confronted by someone your own size, you guys back off.

Got hired on from seasonal associate to full time... Pretty good job, but somewhat physically taxing depending on what job you do and how productive you are. The other associates were pretty chill, nice, and somewhat welcoming compared to my other jobs. The supervisors and managers were all pretty good too. One thing though, depending on where your working it gets super HOT.
