Excellent opportunity to learn more about Dickinson's Witch Hazel. It has been used in my family for generations. I think it a mistake, (but I am often wrong about such things), to dilute the brand with value-added, lesser quality ingredients. Better to call it "one of the original magic potions." or whatever would pass legally. I note that the product is not labeled USDA certified organic, but would not care, if emphasis had not been placed on that aspect at the beginning of the interview. PS Don't be running the factory 24/7. Keep regular working hours. No one needs to be making witch hazel or the other products at 3 AM.

Perhaps this company should start changing the world from STOPPING tormenting the people who happen to live nearby the facility with unbearable odor and piercing noise!

I’m grateful to have been part of a a wonderful manufacturing company who treated everyone the same from the temps to the president. Employees should feel comfortable to question in why a company does certain operations. People shouldn’t have to ask management permission to improve a company’s operational methods. I once heard that the best managers are the great individual contributors who never want to become a manager but ultimately decide that they have to be. In my personal experience I see that we don’t have many great leaders in manufacturing. Many CEO’s don’t qualify for that position. And they tend to be more short term focused. Simon Sinek once said We need CVO’s (Chief Visionary Officers) and we should do away with CEO’s. I agree with that premise wholeheartedly. People aren’t motivated to come to work anymore, or people are afraid to come to work. I’ve seen a study that shows that ESOP (Employee Stock Owned) companies are 3-4 times more likely to retain staff and more willing to take productive measures in keeping employees without having to constantly worry about whether or not they’re maximizing holder value. Results show that businesses with 30% or more employee ownership are more productive, grow faster, and are less likely to go out of business than their counterparts. The benefits for companies, that are employee owned tend to keep companies of every sector in business. Especially in manufacturing, for the simple reason that the rank and file aren’t just pawns for the shareholders and if given the chance they can keep a business successful and steadily grow its value over time, more so than with the average companies which only have just managers and one or a few shareholders. Inequality has less to do with genders now these days and more to do with unions as well as the average Joe & Jane. Lastly what I’ve seen over the years is that CEOs’ tend to project their frustrations on the managers and it residually reaches the average staff that in turn brings with it decline in trust, decline in cooperation, & innovation.
