Why do all these videos never look like it does in real life? They always show the sun shining throughout and the moon is just a small dot that doesn't even cover the sun!

That's not direct sunlight that you're seeing during totality, that's the light from the corona. It's so hard to pick up an eclipse on camera. Even the most high tech cameras in the world still don't do justice to how it actually looks. It's one of those things that you must see with your own eyes to be able to fully appreciate.

Saw this in Ennis, TX. Mainly without thermal though that was my backup plan. Had a good clear view for most of it. Austin could have used thermal cams though.

The few angles helps to see distance in a reverse styled way. From Ohio, the star was closer as the eclipse was going full but from Maine it's seen opposite and further than Ohio. The angle of position is said how astronomy was started

Peterborough Ontario Canada, 10pm Tuesday the 9th of April 2024, a lightning storm was going on. The repeated crack of lightning was like nothing I have ever heard before. (I'm 55.) It was as though the sound was trying to mimic the real sound of lightning but failing hard. It truly was the strangest thing.

Cameras are bad at picking up the exact intensity light we see. Especially if you don’t have things like iso or exposure down.

The Moon is lit up on its far side, which faces the Sun when the Moon is New. It's the opposite of a Full Moon.

So neat. Sounds like the children enjoyed the solar eclipse too. Could hear them on this video. So glad they liked it. It got dark where you all are at wow ! Not so in my location, it was only 70 percent covered
