Great vlog, looking forward to hearing about your other series, you already know how much I like the bird 😂 How long does it take you to finish a piece on average? I always feel like I'm not spending enough time on a drawing - when I am actually drawing!
@isabelledebionne2 күн бұрын
Thank you, Maryann! The time it takes me to finish a graphite drawing depends on the size. The large moth I did a while back took over 20 hours… a little drawing in my sketchbook can take a couple hours. It really depends also on how much detail I want to add. Stay tuned for more black birds! 😉😁 Thank you so much for watching!

So nice to see this video, Isabelle! I agree with you that you seem to be in a period of artistic growth and that can be uncomfortable- and you are dealing with it in a very healthy way by doing something you enjoy, something fun for you (and us!) I love the skateboarding bird! So cute! I think that would make an excellent sticker! And congrats on a sponsorship! And with something right up your alley - that’s a great pairing. Enjoy those last beautiful Milwaukee days! Looking forward to your new projects too - curious to hear more about your dead birds series! Great video!!

Thank you, Brian! I'm glad you enjoyed this little vlog. I suppose the only way out of a slump is through action, at least that seems to work for me. If anything it's been nice to shake things up a bit and reconnect with my love of animation! I love that little bird on a skateboard too. Can't wait to have him made into a sticker. Stay tuned for the "dead bird series" ... 😉

I think your videos are great. I'm not an artist. But watching you make drawings is amazing. I like when you film outside , too. BTW thanks for the lesson about the different graphite pencils. I went out and got some. If you want to try another art direction go for it. And you should definitely make personal time and keep a private sketch book. Maybe by putting everything out there you're losing yourself. Don't worry what other people think. Just do you and keep the faith.

Like many who have already commented, I’ll watch your videos regardless of the art content - but I’ve always enjoyed your art as well. I think it’s your personality that keeps people returning week after week. I think self- doubt is a healthy result of being thoughtful and determined. A person who lives with no doubts is probably not paying a lot of attention, haha! But when it debilitates us, yeah… it’s good to look past that and look for that path forward. So true about comparing ourselves to others… (we all do it!) there is a bit of “the grass is greener over there” that will probably always make us reflect… but then, do we ever know the whole story? Probably not. (Shrug) Anyway, always happy to see how your art journey unfolds! We’ll be here with you!

Great video, Isabelle. I resonated with your thoughts ❤ my channel is not only growing very slowly but it's lost 5 subscribers the past weekend 😅 I love making videos, and I thought that would be a good way of "starting a conversation" with people from around the world, sharing thoughts about our work and journeys... I always try to see the positive side of things, but sometimes I feel very discouraged.

Thank you for your comment. I completely relate. My subscriber count fluctuates. There is so much that goes into making videos so I get how discouraging it can feel when someone unsubscribes or a video doesn’t do well (which this video isn’t performing well for instance!). @BoruArtАй бұрын
This is really helpful! I learned a few things here - I am not nearly as patient as you are with pencil drawings (and it shows! Haha!) I think your little circles method is really nice and gives your shading a really velvety look. It’s also a thing I knowwww but don’t often implement… the different grades of lead - I’ve done it the right way before, but, again, I’m impatient, so I will typically use just 1 or 2 different grades - but it does make a huge difference in the result, and well worth the extra effort. Wonderful and informative video, Isabelle! I’ll need to put these tips into practice!
