I’m in late 70. Never have I owned a pillar candle that did not tunnel. I don’t make candles and don’t often buy any more because it’s a waste of money: big fat candle with a hole that eventually extinguishes because the wick is drowned by wax. I can’t even imagine a pillar that burns evenly across. I figure they cannot.

So, everyone teaching candle making on KZbin teaches the same, tried and true, candle making method…period. There is no formula, no right way, no teachable skill. All candle making is, learn the skill on your own, trial and error test, test, testing, until you like your result. Buy the tools and materials, FAFO, fool around and find out. SHEESH. Your advice is to make and give away a minimum of 84 test candle combinations, learning the basic foundation of the craft. Then go to business school. Then develop a supply chain, storage, work area, tools, personnel, pay, benefits and insurance. Then continue perfecting the craft as candles are competitively made and sold, testing with R&D every different nuance of multiple tools, waxes, wicks, containers, colors, fragrances, fragrance load, smell area, shapes, sizes, amount of light, burn time, temperatures, comparing every possible combination, until you find what you like…heh, heh, heh…thank you…from an old veteran, retired in the US, foothills of the east Tennessee Smokies.

Hey, I need some information here . I'm using soy wax 444 in a 2.5 jar about 7 oz of wax with dye. What size lx wick would you recommend? Ik using LX 14 and it's reaching a full melt pool in about 1.5 hours with lots of mushrooms 🍄 and flame getting small. I'm getting scent through but I'm not please with the mushroom built up and the flame 🔥 get lower.

I tried to add fragrance oils to my candles but a lot of them are too strong while I’m making candles but still not smell so good after candle is complitly frozen and I love essential oils but I don’t feel the smell at all after adding them to the candles :( I tried to add really big amount and still no good resales the smell is barely recognisable :( will be very greatfull for any suggestions or recommendations 🙏 btw I use natural soy wax and rapeseed wax

I just made 20 6464 soy candles and 8 ounce jelly jars from Lonestar candle company. They gave me an echo eight wick and the wig burned out soon as it hit the wax. I’m not even gonna try to mess with this. I’m switching to paraffin and larger wig perhapsI’ve learned more from you than I have watching 30 hours a candle videos.

All chemical and man made fragrances are carcenogenic. Don't use them. We can look that up easily. Why support the big chemical companies like dow, dupont , and many others that are causing us to become sick. Most people are used to overpowering scents and don't even think natural smells are desirable.Furthermore, It causes excitability in the brain and can cause a host of problems after being exposed to the "wonderful scent". Do more research and save yourself some heartache, and maybe the health of you or your loved ones. If it's man-made... don't eat it, put it on your skin, breath it, you'll be glad in the long run.

Thank you for this information! I'm just starting to experiment with oils, at 11:10 of the video you talk about low quality fragrance oil and show a pic of Candlescience, where I've been getting my oils (haven't made candles yet, still trying to find the right fragrance). Are you indicating that Candlescience is a low quality oil? I'm willing to spend more money for a better quality oil.

I’m having some issues hoping for help. I use cd wicks. I am more than half way down. I have a tool to perfectly center my wicks but they bend. My candles have amazing hot throw but even at the bottom of my candle the side of the wick that the bend faces away from it doesn’t reach a full melt pool but the side the wick leans towards gets too hot. I don’t know how to fix this issue. I measured the temp at 179 degrees. Also I am struggling with where I should be measuring my temp. I always measure the rim at the top of the candle jar. The sides don’t really over 145 the top is where the heat it on my jars
