First and foremost, what an incredible song!!! I agree with majority of the comments, PP Arnold's emotion in the song really gives it the gravitas it deserves... However, lyrically this should be a shout out to anyone who's had their heart broken and is brave enough to be vulnerable again. Everyone deserves to be happy, whether at the 1st time of trying or the 100th

Absolutely agree. It’s become just a pop song in other versions but it’s actually one of the saddest songs ever and this version captures that sadness

It is the original it was written by Cat Stevens, and originally released by P. P. Arnold in April 1967. Stevens's own version was released in December 1967 on his album Masters..!

this guy Gold kinda claims to have written the song on YT , but then goes on to say how he layed down the drums with a borrowed set. The snare part and the core drum for Ronstandt are clearly lifted from the vibe of the soul of this version 1 year befor I were born
