I enjoyed this also, my father was freinds with Jack Ostrander.. Pontiac Jack ran IRHA top fuel and we were invited to spend the day in there pit stall. When my ex and i got there they fired it up, and the others that were there found a Nitro Newby, my eye balls watered up so bad i had to steo over to the next pit to get away. Lol! Good times i tell ya! Ps. I was at the Texas motorplex in 88 when Eddy Hill the Snowman broke the 5.00 barrier, when went 4.99 these cars are the sheet!

If a Top Fuel Funny car had a bye run I would have loved to see Tom Bailey run the Camaro against it. It would truly show people what they are witnessing. I'm sure Tom would love the chance to do it, he seems like the kind of guy who likes new experiences.

Yeah I heard they are supposed to take those poles down because so many spectators complain they can’t read the scoreboard, I think every racetrack needs to do this when building a dragstrip…just put the light poles behind the grandstands so the fans view is not obstructed….also they should not allow the RV’s to park up against the fence because the fans in the grandstands can’t see anything past HALFTRACK….i see at Sonoma last year they made the RV campers stay even with the grandstands they couldn’t pull all the way up to the fence because it would block the view of the fans in the grandstands.

I’ve been watching drag racing since I was a young boy, at Baylands Raceway. (RIP) I am still in awe that these things work! How does a rubber tire put up with this amazing torque? How does a single cylinder make more BHP than an entire F1 car engine? How does the cylinder not hydraulically lock up from the gallons of fuel pouring into it like a garden hose on full blast? What’s salary is that when you look closely at a modern top fuel engine, you can see many more fuel ports that are not being used. Which means that technology will continue to grow and allow even MORE fuel to be burned!
