I like your rod holder design. The offset notches are a great idea. Do you have a video on what you use for rod holder while fishing in a flip over ice house?

I’ve been building my own custom Jet Sled Jr. for ice fishing and ordered 2 of your rod holders and the bucket holder. I’ll be filming a video putting the sled together and will be letting people know where I got the holders from as well. Looking forward to adding them to my sled and seeing how they perform. Not sure why I never customized my sleds sooner, never even crossed my mind I could slap all sorts of gadgets to them to save on space. Next year it may be a Smitty Sled with a cargo rack. For now it’ll be sled runners , 2 of your rod holders, the bucket holder, a spud bar holder, and an auger holder . Big project but it’s fun! I could’ve used PVC and made my own holders, but I liked the design features and look of your custom rod holders! And the bucket holder opens up so much sled space! Good luck fishing! 🎣

Great minds…cut an old yoga mat in half the bride ‘loaned’ me, and connected to the front foot area of my Eskimo quick flip. Keeps feet insulated & Rolls up nice and secures with a small bungee just below the seat (same color too Bob) thanks for affirming to her I wasn’t completely losing my mind! 😊

I'm intrigued by this but my rod holders are already permanently mount to the back of my sled. Would you be able to print one with more clearance?
@fishingduoproductions

I may design one in the near future! There are some sleds with top brims wider than 2 inches. What sled do you use and how big is the lip from the sled wall to the outer edge?
@wubbalubbadubx2
@wubbalubbadubx2 Күн бұрын
@ I just went and looked. I can’t post pics unfortunately. The lip of the sled is only 1.5 inches. The clam rod holder set is fairly small and the tubes themselves protrude about .5 inches past the lip. Concern now is the bucket occluding the middle two holders. I could send you pics via email.

Create one for auger holder too :)
@fishingduoproductions

I will certainly consider doing that. The main issue is the weight of today's augers. If you put a mount on the outside of the sled, it wants to tip. But it's in the works!

Nice job on the paint. I also like the idea of composite decking material used as the transom mount for an outboard motor (no rot with composite) Could you also use those composite planks as the thwarts tops so your backside isn't getting fried or chilled by sitting on ali thwarts/seats? Might even use the composite decking as planks to enclose the under thwart areas after you stack them with cut to shape polystyrene blocks...which will make the craft unsinkable... it will stay upright and even totally full of water...it won't sink.

After years of guiding out of hub houses I have 1 very strong opinion. In a hub I find it extremely useful to make my floors( I use rubber roofing) bigger than the skirt on the house. No matter how hard it's frozen in I can lift up a corner of the rubber and peel it out without damage to the house. Only savages fish without a floor

Nice. So how do you go down hill without it running into the back of your legs ? An all terrain Smitty Sled might be considered.
@fishingduoproductions
@fishingduoproductions 28 күн бұрын
That is a common issue but I have a a place to hook my tow rope on the back of the sled for just such an occasion. Then when I go down a hill, I let the sled down first and keep a hold on the tow rope. Or I just ride it down and hope for the best. That works too....usually.

I would have mounted the supports from the top in the same location where the bindings were, using the screws that held the bindings on. That part of the ski is meant to hold screws and you wouldn't damage the base.

Depending on how much weight you load in it, they only sink 1 to 3 inches in my experience. Even in deep snow. The size of the ski is what determines the load capacity. Thanks for watching!

Making products as a small home business in the US makes it tough to sell at Amazon prices. We do provide free shipping in the US. Once we can source stainless hardware and quality material at a lower cost, I hope to bring the price down. Thanks for watching and good luck on the ice this season!

I agree with most everything you have demonstrated….. however a couple of points. 1. Tying your sled to the frame….. myself I have used wood from a hardwood pallet cut into strips which would fit into the plastic channels of the sled spreading the work load the length of the channel instead of just the plastic around your bolts are holding! 2. I like how you put the toll rope through the front of the ski, but then I would go up into where the rope goes through the front of the sled and then all the way through the sled to the backside of the sled and tie the knot behind the sled that way all load/weight is being pulled from the back of the sled and not the front of the sled. Great build though! Really enjoyed it!best sled I ever built though was built from the schedule 40 3” plumbing drain pipes!
