The interstates and highways are not particularly good for cities usually but they are essential for national security and getting from one place to another

This bridge should've been replaced in the 1960s. To bad the lazy asses had the idea to build the Pearman instead, the one that didn't even last 45 years.

Can someone with SCDOT let the public how much this project has cost Richland County taxpayers . Yes the main line is done but all the side streets have speed bumps because asphalt work isn't done . Will the I-26 project be done before this pne

South Carolina hasn't added any additional lanes on Interstates since this film was made. I hate driving on I-95 and I-26 through that backward state. When you get to Georgia on I-95, it opens up to multiple lanes. Take a lesson from Georgia, SC.

In Nova Scotia, we keep the standing water in perfectly-aligned deep ruts and potholes. Cross slope just helps to keep those pond-like surface defects full. 🙂

Does the 85th percentile rule still apply to interstate highways? I can’t believe 85% of drivers drive below 70 mph.

It'd be nice to see SC take on a state rail system, like NC has done.

I think these new lanes will solve traffic forever. What a giant waste of money.

Thank you for the informative video! I drive between Greenville and Charleston frequently, so I've been through this site many times. It's nice to have an overview of the project!

Why stop there, keep going. 10 lanes each way. Can't think of any famous wide highways that have terrible traffic

South Carolina's roads are trash. The US and state highway system never have paved shoulders and bicycle accommodation. The traffic signals and signage are horrible.

Actually, DRIVERS control the flow of traffic. Your stupid roundabouts, 4 light left turn signals with flashing left arrows, and stop signs for bicycles with confusing yield to pedestrian signs, and obscure no right on red signs are used they only serve to confuse drivers. But the claim is that they "save lives" BS. Prove it. If you really wanted to "save lives" you would revisit ALL of the speed limits that were created BEFORE the MASSIVE 25% growth in South Carolina population and REDUCE the limits and make them consistent for the ENTIRE road in some area. You would also turn over ALL roads with signals to the COUNTIES along with the tax revenue and allow the LOCAL government to decide how LOCAL roads are built, maintained, and patrolled. Columbia and DC should have ZERO responsibility or authority for LOCAL roads. You are welcome to screw up freeways (not highways) to your hearts content.

roundabouts are so much better and safer than any signal

How about developing a statewide transit plan instead of clogging up the roads with personal vehicles and endless road widenings?
@Take2_gamez4 ай бұрын
I’m sorry SC but paving ain’t gonna do the job I live on the outskirts of Greenville SC and travel I-95 to Florida. Paving only helps the smooth drive what needs to happen is widening the whole stretch of 95 in the whole state that would be most needed

Nice video, but poor presentation. I'd like to actually hear the narrator. Raise the volume. I can always turn it down.
@tombiggs46877 ай бұрын
I'll be honest, I only stopped in to watch the old cars. But unlike most promo/educational films of the era, this was really well done - interesting writing, good pacing - so I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. I was expecting the narrator to have a South Carolina accent. But I guess this kind of film wanted standard US voice talent.

I love driving U.S. highways and business routes. Getting back on the Interstate is so smooth compared the old highways. The old highways are more like a roller coaster with twists and turns.

What a complete disaster this has been. Shoddy work (which has caused numerous people to die) that has been way over budget and past the scheduled completion date. We’ll never recoup all of the time lost on this project over the past several years.
