As an American...America was not founded on Christianity, although the majority of religious people in the United States tend to be Christians. Many came to America to escape religious persecution from the Old World of State run Church...in order to worship as they please without government involvement. So in the U.S. Bill of Rights the First Amendment says in part "Freedom of Religion" to worship, or not worship without government interference. I would go further to say, that a founder Thomas Jefferson that helped create the Constitution defined and describe it as providing a "Wall of Separation" or the "Separation of Church and State" Therefore today Churches are Tax Exempt, and The Johnson Amendment created in 1954 prevents Churches from getting involved in political campaigns or lose their Tax Exempt status but loosely enforced, especially today with the Nationalist and Fascist Movements on the rise. I remember, when it was frowned upon by the Churches, that the Church should not get involved in the Secular Affairs of the World, and for the most part did not. That all began to change 40 plus years ago, when a Pastor Jerry Falwell and godfather of the Mega Churches started a Movement called "The Moral Majority" which has become nothing more today, than another Political Constituency. So as it always happens with the intertwining of Religion and Politics it always creates hell on Earth and division...among all, and eventually weakens both. Sometimes in this way, Religion is used as a tool, or a jumping off place for the horrors of Far Right Nationalism and Far Right Fascism (Movements.) Today, it being that many Church people already believe in the supernatural, and things spiritual with having an Authoritarian God, and a male Father God, that it isn't hard to understand how they might confuse the two i.e. Patriotism and Religion...with all the terrible things, that often go with it. America is in a battle for our very democracy, because of the movements that have arisen from the Religious Far Right. It is frightening...many American's have left the Church because of this, as the rest within the Church are not only leading people away, but are themselves being led astray.

FOR THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE HEEYA OF YOUR TRIBAL FATHER “ILAH” = NISAFF EEMAN AND BE TRUTHFUL, CONTENTED (HAQ HALLAL) AND MERCIFUL = FULL EEMAN = MUSSALLMAN = GURMUKH SIKH. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYfQgnppmtxkb6c The reason for Christ Jesus to appear was that the Jews outwardly of appearances, the FAKE proclaiming themselves to be the Chosen People of demiurge Yahweh who brought Abram of the Semitic race, a mix of the Negro and Aryan, who hated none but loved all from the Iraq area to the Middle East to establish an ideal society and he was given the Promised Land as the Garden of Eden. They were living in the company of their creator demiurge Lord of Nature, jealous and revengeful, Yahweh and for his faith; he was named "Abraham". Now, so far the generation of Abraham, an ideal Adam and Sarah, an ideal Eve, were faithful "Salt of Abraham", an honest and truthful as Joseph of the twelve sons of Jacob was, they enjoyed the best fruit of the Garden of Eden but as soon as they became unfaithful and Saltless people as the Eleven crook liars and murderers were who wanted to kill the Nathanael like true Israelite with no duplicity Joseph was but the Saltless brethren who sold the faithful Salt of the Earth Joseph as a slave to the faithful to Abraham Salt of the Earth Egyptians of Ishmael, the Elder son of Abraham and there he was honoured among them and was given the highest position of honour among them whilst the unfaithful to Abraham liars and murderer sons were rejected by the Nobel Man Abraham to whom the Promised Land belonged and such Saltless super bastards unfaithful to Abraham and Yahweh people - John 8v44, the Tares Matt 13v24-30 that are being bundled up in Israel for the Final Burning in the ensuing ATOMIC WAR expected on 14/05/2023 when Israel is 75 years old - had no place in Adam to inherit and live. Yahweh was also not happy either and no rain or crops for them to eat. All these natural disasters that are taking place in the world are a punishment to the cruel people who have committed atrocities against childlike innocent people. No such natural disasters among the faithful tribal sons of Adam living in the African and Brazilian jungles. Then, they had to leave the Promised Land for Egypt where they started to misuse their spiritual talents with evil spirits and ended up as slaves to the Salt of the Earth Egyptians where Salt of Abraham Joseph had become the ruler. In other words, the faithful to Abraham and Yahweh Nobel people of Joseph, the Samaritans were honoured anywhere they went whilst the clever crook generations of the Eleven Patriarchs were hated and killed in the holocausts by the tribal sons of Man. Thus, when the English were English and not Conservative or Labour, they killed the bloodsucking cheating Jews outwardly and not the good Samaritans, the Salt of Nobel Abraham. John, the Baptist, the last Prophet Elijah, the Cornerstone of the Temple was ousted out by the greedy Rabbis dressed in silken clothes and Christ Jesus exposed their hypocrisy and they killed Him. Angel Stephen, one of the 70 outer circle workers, an ideal moral teacher in the name of Prophet Elijah was baptising the Jewish men in water in the name of Abraham but as the Temple Priests were making fake sons of Abraham through circumcision, the tribal mark of Abraham to Isaac which no one else can have it except the seed of Isaac, this exposure stifled their business and they killed him. Ideal Mullah, Rabbi, Brahmin, etc., the Moral Teacher has been defined by Christ Jesus in Matt 13v52:- He is the owner of a house, Synagogue, Masjid, Mandir, etc., who bringeth forth Treasures Old, the Scriptures and the New, “His Word”, the very Tap Root of the Tree of Life. This, my Elder Brother Shah Shamas Tabrizi demonstrated in the cool-headed “Rumi” by throwing into the water his cherished old Books which he had read many times and they were “Milk” for the once-born babies and he needed the Tap Root = His Word = Oral Torah to understand the Scriptures thoroughly. When Rumi made hue and cry, then Shah Shamas Tabrizi went into the water and brought his Books dry full of the dust of ages and gave them to Rumi. So, Rumi asked Shah Shamas Tabrizi “What is this?” Then, Shah Shams Tabrizi told Rumi, “This is that knowledge, which you do not have?” As Rumi was cool-headed of holy spirit, which is common sense, so, Shah Shams Tabrizi explained the Roots of Scriptures making Rumi an Ideal Maulana - Matt 13v52. Whilst the fanatic authoritarian Mullahs of the East killed Him. Samaritans were a Nation of Prophets like Rumi and they Preached the Gospel from the Roof Tops. The Samaritan Women at well, never mind the men, she was known as Saint Photina and I know the names of her Five Husbands. Watch mine over 8000 KZbin Videos; Channel nijjhar1. *In* *the* *Bible* *the* *"nations"* *are* *the* *heathen* [unbeliever]. The Hebrew word which is often rendered "nations" is the identical word from which the word "heathen" always comes. Perhaps Ps. 96:5 makes the case as clear as may be to the English reader. "For all the gods of the nations are idols; but the Lord made the heavens." Here it is very evident that the "nations" are heathen. In Ps. 2:1 where we read, "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?" The Revision has it. "Why do the nations rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?" Such an idea as a "Christian nation" is as much a contradiction of terms as a "Christian heathen." A "nation" in God's use of the term, when speaking of earthly nations, is a collection of heathen. So what the Jews really said was this: "We will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the heathen." That was what they wanted, because all other people acknowledged other gods than Jehovah, and all the people on earth, with the exception of Israel, had kings over them. The Danish Bible renders 1 Sam. viii. 20 plainly, "We will also be like all the heathen;" and the German of Luther still more pointedly has it, "That we also may be like all other heathen." {1900 EJW, EVCO 398.3}

I resent, very strongly, that I am being 'lectured at' by Rev Dr Carys Walsh. Poetry, like music, is a very personal thing. R.S. Thomas has been my favourite poet for the last 45 years. Although I was brought up as a Londoner, I lived in Wales for 8 years and was married to a Welsh lady. I spent 2 years studying in Harlech in North Wales. My tutor there was himself a published Anglo-Welsh poet who knew R.S.Thomas. He introduced me to the work of the late poet. I also lived in Swansea for 6 years; 4 of them spent studying philosophy. I was very active in Welsh University life: Thus feel I have a sound basis for my own understanding of Wales. For the last 32 years I have been living in S.E.Asia; and am a Buddhist monk. But Dr Carys Walsh is telling me HOW and in what way I SHOULD understand my favourite poet. That is to remove the essence of great art: Dictating how and why I must see poetry on her terms destroys the very purpose and foundation of any great art!

While I enjoyed your podcast, I really hope you don't group all American Christians into this category of Trump-supporting Christian nationalism. I am a Christian who, while I am American, by no means supports Trump or the ideologies of Christian nationalism. I bow down to the Lord Jesus Christ, not republican or democrat or Trumpism. There are many of us who did not support Trump and are appalled at the actions of the white evangelicals in America, but our voice is small, or it feels relatively small and ignored. I see the ethno-centricity of America, and how it's taking the throne over the true God and Lord Jesus Christ, and I hate it. Just know that not everyone who is Christian in America went this way. Maybe we should have done more, and now we're paying for it.
@briantaulbee57443 жыл бұрын
For as much as Christian nationalists tend to idolize the modern state of Israel, and certain ideas in the OT, they don't seem to bother engaging with actual Jews and their understanding and analysis of these texts in any meaningful way. There's no such thing as a "correct" Jewish interpretation of the Tanakh (Judaism, from what I can glean, really doesn't work that way), but Jews have been wrestling with these texts for thousands of years. So to say that war is good because Samuel talked about killing the babies of your enemies is dangerously ignorant of huge swathes of very thoughtful, learned commentary on this very issue that may thoroughly undermine the attempted justification for war. But, of course, Christian nationalists aren't interested in actual theology at all. They want power, and view theology strictly as a justification for obtaining that power.

Yep. Many of the founders were "Christian" only in the very loosest sense imaginable. Some were Deists who basically thought that there was a creator deity who had long since fucked off and left us to our own devices. George Washington, when he even bothered to go to church, refused to take communion (and no, he didn't pray in the snow at Valley Forge; that was made up whole-cloth by Parson Weems, who also invented the cherry tree myth). Thomas Jefferson basically invented the separation of church and state, and famously took scissors to his Bible to cut out all of the bits he found to not be credible (the result was a much, much shorter book).

Christian nationalism is "fine" to some until for example another christian nation or a Christian culture opposes them in general where nationalism just divides people on anything possible. We seen that with Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestants and sub-sects of them such as racist white Baptists verse racist black Baptists, left-wing Christians, right-wing Christians, Sunni and Shiite Muslims and their political leanings of so-called "moderate" Muslims and fanatical Muslims, and Jews whom maybe left-wing or right-wing politically or maybe one of the Thirteen Tribes of Israel can't get along with each other for some reason. Not to mention Christians who believe in a "whitewashed" version of Christ yet can't even speak one single language of Afro-Asiatic languages besides a translated, more in accurate version of the Bible, the Torah, and the Qu'ran; and are quite liberals when it comes to comparable Christian traditions of what Evangelicals supposedly stand for. Whom all believe in the same God mind you, but they can be "nationalistic" to their religious group. Here's an example of a dilemma when it comes to nationalism related to Christian values - shall we throw homosexuals off of roofs, shall we wag fingers at them, shall we make them clerics, simply do nothing, and so on? You'll have a whole bunch of different Christians that will have different opinions based on different ways they see and understand the dogma of their religious views by these same entities that separately categorize themselves for whatever reason. All of this relates to the reason why idolatry is sinful according to God and nationalism in relation to different groups is a bane on Christianity when they are all expected to be obedient to God and that it undermines it. God could just dim one of these religious groups as infidels or heathens but anyone can have that perspective on the Christian groups they oppose, whether religiously or politically.

Christian Nationalism defined by Websters identification with ones own nation and support for it’s interests especially to the exclusion or detriment of the issues of other nations. It’s not just simple identification with one’s own nation, it’s identification for support of the interests of that nation to the exclusion to that nation to the detriment of the interest of the other nation. When we talk about Christian Nationalism of a range of views it becomes EXTREME when we agree with Nationalism and of the belief of SUPERIORITY of or radical preference for the benefit of one nation over against all other nation’s but it’s also all over other people that don’t share the singular devotion to the idea of what a nation represents be that for us America and what would make them America a transcendent power. That I think is a deep concern because there are CHRISTIAN NATIONALISTS to hold on to that and their always going to be suspect of other nations, immigrants, refugees, illegals, and otherwise but their most suspect, of their fellow citizens that don’t share their ideological convictions. That’s Christian Nationalism. Thoughts by Dr / Bishop Mark Chironna

The "badness" of christians comes right from the religion itself. The god of the bible is absolutely horrible and mortally repulsive. It's not like this is a great religion that just happens to be full of bad people. It's a horrible religion that corrupts good people. That's why I don't like this quote, it misleads people into thinking that religion isn't the core problem.

The God of the Old Testament was indeed bloodthirsty, and stood up for a select group of people. By the time and place of Jesus, that group were in control religiously, and were given political power in return for using religion to make people docile in the face of the Roman Empire. Jesus was a rebel who went against that, unlike US evangelical "Christians" of the present day.

I can imagine a conversation very similar to the christians in Germany who were shocked by Nazi Positive Christianity and the Vatican support of Hitler; Fascist Nationalism seems to always come in the cloak of right-wing reactionary religious rhetoric. Seems more and more like the only way to preserve the Jesus of the gospel is like the title of an old world war one essay I saw long ago "Fighting in the trenches with Jesus and Marx" as the Left really seems the only place such a figure could even tolerate; Communism - A stateless classless society; no nationalism required.
