I have always thought that the Traction Avant was one of the best, timeless designs. It is elegant and balanced, and maybe just a bit sinister and sporty. A true, beautiful classic! Until I watched this excellent video, I never realized that they made a coupe version. Thanks!!!!!

1972, in the Netherlands with relatives, we were walking along a street, one of these, black, stopped at the curb and four guys got out, all long hair and real cool looking, maybe a rock band. I'll never forget how beautiful that car was.

I swapped one of these same colour and a mgb engine swap for a roof chopped minor in the late 80s .

I had one in same Silk Violet colour back in 1995. Loved it.

I had two Marina's and one Ital. Brilliant cars. Toured all over Europe, with three children, in a £50 Ital. In Italy, people used to admire the red Ital. If only they have made a stainless version. Peace and goodwill.

My first car was a Marina. It was a 1300 . My second was a 1700 O series engine . Had the second one for five years and the car served me well.

The only thing not to like here, is that colour! My brother had a light blue one and it looked so much better!

You can't beat a '90 spec Mk2 imo.

I had an early MK2 (1984), with the pirelli alloys, in black with silver side stripes on the lower body. The wipers were fitted as if it was left hand drive. Wish I had kept it, especially as they have become such an iconic vehicle.

Looks like a great road trip.. I learned how to drive in an SD1 here in Ontario, Canada in the 1980’s. I have great memories of that car...

Sold in the U.S. as an Austin Marina, but with a larger motor. A chap in South Carolina has one with over 100,000 miles on it.

You say it’s a super, well don’t forget chrome trim on wheel arches and extra black and silver wheel trims which go on first before hub caps.

I had this car in BRG with gold pin stripes(1500 with five speed) ten years and drove completely about two hundred thousand miles..Died because of corrosion and lack of spare parts.. Had some issues ,but nothing major...Like all other cars have...Always started ,even in 22 degrees of freeze and had very good consumption...Good car by good handling and good care..

These are great looking cars.. get the headlamps changed to European and paint the bumper and tailgate white ..this video would have been even better.

Had 1800 TC Sedan. Always to me better than the coupe.

I think there’s a new appreciation for cars like this. They were mocked in their day, but they seem to have been solidly built and over engineered for their day. With old fords being vastly overpriced now for old wrecks, classics like this are available in good condition and at a tenth of the price of an old ford needing a full £10K restoration.
