ummm they may be self centered before the addiction...but more likely they were just looking to feel better.... and then got addicted... no amount of unselfishness etc is gonna heal those addiction withdrawal symtpoms... i mean they are terrible... u might have a very unselfish person be a victim of drug addiction.. these substances can destroy anyone...

I work with women resisting abortion, which is the ultimate poverty mentality. This sermon can be applied to any woman or young girl in this country. They cannot hope to be married, even if they want to have children. 80% of women must raise children alone and usually in poverty. A leading trauma specialist in the U.S. says that the most abused, traumatized, neglected, exploited people in the use are teens and young adults. Military service looms for the young men who might have to kill or be killed defending foreign nations. For females, they have to fear their own biology. The doors of heaven seem closed to such young people. Ten years so, more relevant today now than then. Blessings to this pastor.

Another excellent session! The more I listen, the more wiser, kinder and hopeful I get. Sure, nothing's easy in life, considering our flaws and such, but as long as we do our best every day, without ever giving up, everything is possible. God bless everyone here!

I've known of Rick for many years. But I honestly believe I've never truly appreciated his leadership. It's time to consider, appreciate, and apply God's wisdom. As he speaks it to us.

Rick Godwin has been one of the greatest preachers for a very long time
@jondstewart6 ай бұрын
This man has successfully stayed off the radar as a megachurch pastor, despite the 2007 scandal when he was still at the tiny and crowded Eagle’s Nest Church in 2007 that was a converted gymnasium from an old Church of Christ. Remember that scandal when he misused church funds and his estranged daughter from his first marriage sent out a mass e-mail to all the volunteers at the church the truth about how she was abused by his wife Cindy?

Nope

He’s over 80 years old now, his estranged daughter Shannon that tried to get the truth out in 2007 is forgotten about, and he’s probably still an entitled, impersonal man with his congregation. I remember the old days when he pastored Eagle’s Nest 2002-2007 and just left the church after Sunday services in his shiny black Mercedes barely talking to anybody. This is so tragic because I always thought he’s spot on with his sermons as a cynical and think outside of the box Christian I am myself. If he lived a more modest lifestyle not hidden from the general public, I’d have more respect for him. And even more tragic, my marriage to my wife of 20 years is about to come to an end and after 16 years in Alaska and a ridiculously dysfunctional marriage here and even the last years in San Antonio.I met her at this church in 2003 in the singles group when I was in the Air Force at Lackland. She’s a type A personality like Rick’s wife Cindy. She was her bodyguard during Saturday night church services 2004-2007.

I have been trying to heal my spirit of poverty for many years. I was born 4 pounds and my life has been hell for 52 years. I have a constant war with money. Never have enough to pay the bills. Always helping other but never get anything in return and being talked down to and used by people around me. This has been my life since birth so I don’t know how escape from it.

King David had a heart after Gods own heart. His great grandmother was Ruth who had such a pure heart. It makes me tear up when I read about Ruth and Naomi and boaz. Jesus was born in Bethlehem because king David and his father Jesse and his father obed and his father boaz was born in Bethlehem in the land of Judah
