That really cleaned up nice! considering youre just missing a band AND you got some bore too, you're in a good place. I was always curious how a country could have such a variety of arms, how do you feed all them things, but i guess i can ask myself that question right? Ive noticed all these ethiopian stocks are drrrrrrryyyy. Ive been refinishing with really hot water but on my hakim I didnt notice it shrinking those dried out lines, but, i didnt think about it! What county is that fine accent from?

Might be a late 19th century with that 41 cal. Could be a rifle built from scratch in the early 20th century.

Those two tiny holes in the receiver are for gas relief. Mine were plugged up bad. They’re drilled in at an angle. I used a tiny drill bit to clean mine out.

Thanks for sharing Shawn I enjoy your videos. As far as a good glue (I am NOT a professional gunsmith) I would highly recommend ‘brownells acraglas ‘ stock bedding glue. Just make sure you follow the instructions to a tee and give it at least two days to fully cure especially now that it’s winter. It’s sold on Amazon and other places as well . Thanks again and take care.

I got really irritated with them a few years back . had good luck on a Carcano first time buying from them for $199. They got the M1 Carbine's in from Ethiopia at $799. I ordered one and got a really nice National Postal Meter. Rate about 85% on finish, no damage to any mental parts, nice wood just a few dings, all correct for a rifle that was refitted and used past WWII. Meaning all US made parts with flip safety, type III barrel band, type III rear sight and so on. Was marked to have went to San Antonio Arsenal for refit. Carbines at this time went for $1300 in that condition. I had paid as much as $2100-$2900 for 95-99% perfect carbine before so this was a steal. I thought I should really order a 2nd one since it was such a deal. I watched the website and the inventory went down lower and lower. however the price went up. It first went to $899 and the they put in the description that they were getting down to only having hand select guns left and the price as going up because they had gotten rid of all the lesser quality guns. then the price changed again to $999. Only the best was left and it was your last chance to snag one at such a good price, so they said. I ordered one fearing the price would rise again. I expected an even better gun than the first because they said all the bad ones were gone and only the top tier was left. I received an underwood with a stock that looked like they had hung it from a tree and used it as a piñata. Receiver finish was 40% at best with the most of the gun being basically bare silver. while it functions and has no damage it was $200 more than the first and 1/4 the condition. I expected them to run out soon because they were down to the very last guns after all. Nope they had carbines for another year and a half. They kept raising the price and screaming more and more about "buy now, last chance, low inventory, only the best remain". eventually getting to $1200 each. they even started selling "lightly refurbished' ones for $1500. I bought a Enfield no4 from them after that for $499, same spill. Last of the batch best we have for $499, original listing was $399. Looked like it fought all 3 world wars, yes even including the one that hasn't even happened yet. Have not ordered from them since.

Can't blame them for their sales tactics but I have heard the bad. Trouble with all of it is the subjective-ness and so many variables involved.

@Scraps5209Ай бұрын
@shawnoandrew rifle was made sometime between 1866 and 1874 as a needle fire rifle that took paper cartridges, and in 1874 they adopted a new metallic cartridge. I believe they updated the bolt and did minor modifications to the receiver for the new cartridge.

I have an Enfield 1918 as well, the markings are normal and ShtLE stands for short magazine lee enfield as assumed. Regarding the magazines, typically if the side grooves go to the bottom its for a No1, if the grooves stop short of the bottom of the mag its for a No4. Have fun!

As far as the missing chunks out of the stock go, I wouldn’t know what you’d want to do for that. But for the cracks that aren’t too severe, you could reinforce it with some dowel rods and the original bond everything polyurethane gorilla glue. I had an 1870/87 Italian Vetterli rifle that I was able to repair in the same way. You just gotta be careful with that glue because it expands a lot.

With more work a .22 Barrel Liner can be installed… and a Bolt Face and Firing Pin can be altered to . 22 Rimfire.
